Triple H and The Undertaker are the ones writing their current storyline for WrestleMania 27, with minimal input from WWE creative.

Taker was originally scheduled to face Wade Barrett and Triple H was set to face Sheamus at WrestleMania, but the two got together and realized that WrestleMania 27 had no “special match.” As WWE’s two most powerful forces behind-the-scenes, they felt they could take control of their own angle without much interference from management. So far, they’re having their way.

Shawn Michaels is expected to be introduced into the storyline and have a role at WrestleMania, possibly as a referee or an enforcer. The idea behind the storyline is that Triple H is going at Taker for revenge, after Taker ended his best friend’s career.

Nice idea. I like it. HHH is a legitimate threat to Taker’s streak.

    • Hobble

No he’s not. No one is an actual threat to the streak. This will be another career vs streak match so that HHH can hang his boots for a while and focus primarily on his executive position.

    • yup

I agree. We all know that Taker will win the match, but at least it’s more plausible that HHH could defeat him over Barrett. Barrett has GOT to get out of being part of a faction and get a solo push.

WWE creative isn’t calling the shots? About damn time. They don’t know what they are doing.

And I think another Career vs Streak match would be a bad idea here. The whole “revenge” angle is more than enough, and both Taker and HHH are good enough to pull it off, although I wish they had another month to build it up. Plugging HBK into it at some point just makes it a little more interesting. It’s simple and works just fine.

See WWE? See TNA? SEE?!?!?!?!?!? It’s not that hard to create good storylines. You just have to get out of your own damn way and let the PROFESSIONAL WRESTLERS work their craft. They are pros for a reason. They(mostly) know what they are doing.

Give them bullet points for the promos and a finish for their match, then get the hell out of the way!!! Stop trying to control every little thing. You can’t do it. It’s not working for either company.

well said, I agree. But yea, they waited WAYYYYYYYY to long to start this angle. Hopefully it pays off

    • Hobble

I think you’re jumping the gun here. We haven’t even seen how this story will develop, so who’s to say that it’s even a good idea for them to have complete control yet? I think they will do a good job because they’re both veterans, they’re nearing the end of their in ring careers, so they hopefully aren’t focused on ego.

I don’t think wrestlers writing their own stories all of the time makes much sense. Improvising promos? Sure. But an outline of a story from outside objective creative teams is necessary or else you end up with wrestlers who just push themselves constantly, and you end up with an incoherent storyline.

I’d just say have it with taker’s streak end but let it not be as a carrer vs streak match cuz just like Random guy says, it’s getting old and that is the truth. so just have it as a revenge and then just end the streak cuz taker’s getting too old and he’s always getting injured.

        • Hobble

The reason I guess that it will be career vs streak is because HHH is looking to call it quits, so this seems like his opportunity to seal the deal with the audience.

Takers getting old and his body’s giving out the streak could end.

  • i am god

lol they should’ve had this angle like before the elimination chamber to really make the story really interesting . i don’t think they can make story line really effective coz they’ve got like a month to make this one effective . they’re great on what they’re doing but time-wise aint enough

  • this guy

yea the angle of hhh going after taker streak for revenage is the only thing that could work career vs streak is retarded, bring shawn michaels in is cool but they have used that angle alot but it is the wwe, it would b better since they have had nash come back for an appearance if they brought the kliq back to interfer in the match or some kind of angle

Im fine with this match and everything, but what i dont like and what i heaven’t liked for a long time, is the fact that WWE seems to think that we, the fans, have short term memory loss or something. So HHH returned, awesome, right into a feud with Taker… So all those promos where sheamus was plugging hit after hit on HHH is now a waste of time and now means nothing. Taker is back, great, but now kane, and Wade B get off scot free, will there be any match on SD! between em??? Probably not, so there goes another waisted storyline. im not saying this all had to end at WM, but c’mon atleast acknowledge it happened and do something about it.

I think what they should do, is have HBK be the special guest refferee.. and have him count the pin to have Taker win. Then, give HBK and HHH authority spots on TV and build up tension between the two all year. Have a DX-hosted RAW a couple weeks before Mania. But then have Triple H lay HBK down with a pedigree and ask for one more match. I think this would be valid, because if HBK were to return to the ring against anyone itd be Hunter. And of course, after the match, they’ll pay respect one more time and that’ll be it.
