As noted, the WWE Fastlane challenger for WWE Champion Daniel Bryan will be revealed on tonight’s SmackDown episode.

Many fans are hoping Kofi Kingston will get the title shot but Kofi was not the plan for Bryan’s Fastlane or WrestleMania 35 opponent as of this week, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio.

Regarding Bryan’s WrestleMania 35 opponent, word is that someone is being brought back to face Bryan, instead of someone he’s already been feuding with. There’s speculation on everyone from Batista to Bray Wyatt, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, The Undertaker, John Cena and WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle, but obviously some of those names will not be in the running.

There’s now talk of having The Undertaker work WrestleMania 35. It looked like Taker might not be working WrestleMania or WWE’s return to Saudi Arabia in May, but there’s recent talk on Taker’s ring return, but no word yet on who he might be wrestling.

There’s been talk of doing a retirement match for Angle but there’s no confirmation that it would take place at WrestleMania, and no word on who his retirement opponent could be.

It will be interesting to see who is named as Bryan’s next challenger on tonight’s SmackDown. Meltzer noted that they do have an opponent in mind.
