Big Update On Rob Van Dam’s WWE Contract Status & When He’ll Be Back

Posted by Michael Bluth October 9, 2013 5 Comments

Despite reports to the contrary, Rob Van Dam is in fact under contract to WWE and is not a free agent during his time off.

As reported in recent months, Van Dam’s deal has him working 90 days at a time, with Van Dam having the option to take as much time off as he wants in between.

Triple H is credited as the person who structured Van Dam’s unique deal, with Vince McMahon signing off on it. Van Dam is on good terms with WWE and there is new merchandise in the works for the former WWE Champion, including a new action figure and possibly a DVD on his career.

While away from WWE, he is free to work for independent wrestling promotions as long as he does not appear on television.

As for when he’ll return, we’re told that RVD has assured WWE that he’ll be back around the Royal Rumble and will work through WrestleMania XXX.

What kind of stupid contract is that? He can take as much time off as he wants? What if he never comes back? Is there a provision to release him from the contract if he doesn’t comeback for a determined period of time? If so, then he can’t really comeback whenever he wants, right? Did you double check this information? It makes no sense to me. I don’t believe Vince would OK a contract a stupid as this to a well-known pothead. You’d think he learned his lesson from Mark Henry.

He would probably be let go when his contract ran out if he didn’t come back but yeah i agree with you he probably does have a time limit on the amount of time he can take off. I think I read it’s something like 3 months working then 3 months off. RVD says one reason he left WWE in the first place is because he hated the 300 days a year on the road he said just thinking about it hurts his chest. That’s something alot of ppl complain about when they have a family.

Another example of the egomaniac that is rvd! Good riddance from TNA!

RVD is a very physicall performer, uses his entire body as opposed to other wrestlers, thats how he got burnt out the first time, no time off, no rest, it really wears the body down
