HHH On Daniel Bryan’s Popularity, Hulk Hogan’s Place In WWE History

The following are highlights from a recent interview with Triple H from NBC Sports Radio out of Los Angeles:

On Daniel Bryan’s popularity: “I think this is a moment in time – is the torch being passed? Or, is this the moment where John Cena continues to cement himself as the face of WWE for this generation?

“I think with Daniel Bryan, there’s an honesty there. Daniel is what he is – a frumpy-looking, long-haired, bearded guy who doesn’t really apologize for how he looks, but he’s that good in the ring. Historically, when you look back at the business, when you got past the flamboyant Hogan/Macho Man Era, you had the Bret Hart technician, a lot less hype and personality and charisma (who let the in-ring speak). And there’s kind of those shifts back-and-forth… Maybe that’s what it is – I do think Daniel is the cross-over of so many of those factors that make a Superstar big. He’s got charisma, he’s got personality, he’s different, he’s his own man. He’s just Daniel Bryan. And he’s damn good and damn exciting at what he does”

On Hulk Hogan in the WWE 2K14 video game and his place in WWE history: “Hulk Hogan will forever be the face of a generation of WWE Superstars. I don’t know that there’s a more recognizable guy – there’s Rock, there’s Hogan, there’s Cena, and there’s these recognizable characters that become household names. And Hulk Hogan is one of the biggest of all-time – a true legend in our business. No matter what, he will always have that place in the WWE Universe. Always.”

John Cena the face of the WWE?! Did the writers or the fans make him that?! I’d say the writers. The WWE has no idea what the fans want. If Daniel Bryan loses at Summerslam, then that is proof that the WWE doesn’t listen to the fans.

have to disagree with your comment. cena is the perfect person to carry the company at this day and age. the problem is just, he is everything what the average wrestling fan (not wwe) dislikes. he is the hero. he is not the badass that rock or austin was, he simply fights for justice. but after 10 years it is indeed time for a change. wether a change to the face of the company or of cenas character. and bryan could be that change

See, the thing is, we did make Cena the face of WWE. Everyone was a Cena fan when he beat JBL for the title, and when he went ot RAW later that year, it made him the face and the fans supported it. Thing is, after his feuds with Edge and Triple H, Batista should have been the face, and he wasnt. The fans made Cena face, the creative team kept him instead of letting new stars come up. Only time he wasn’t the face of the company, was with Pipe Bomb Punk and the months immediatley after that when Punk was the face of the company. Brian can be the face if Cena would just take some time off.

well. cena’s having elbow surgery after SS. His last elbow injury took longer to heal so maybe this time it’ll be longer too
hopefully he’ll lose the title. I don’t want to see him coming every week doing promo’s with “I got surgery and im still here for the wwe universe”
time for heel cena to take over
