Jericho Takes Offense To Nash’s Remarks, Starts Twitter Fight

Grantland.com published a lengthy article Tuesday on the life and controversial wrestling career of Kevin Nash with the six-time world champion notably reiterating his stance on “Vanilla Midgets,” a dismissive term he used behind-the-scenes in the late ’90s in World Championship Wrestling to describe small-statured, gifted technical wrestlers such as Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero. Nash said the professional wrestling industry died at WrestleMania XX when the pay-per-view event concluded with Benoit and Guerrero—both of whom were under six-feet-tall—reigning atop as world champions and emotionally celebrating. Chris Jericho, who worked his way up the wrestling ranks alongside Benoit and Guerrero, publicly took offense to Nash’s remarks and responded with another commonly used stance.

He tweeted late Tuesday evening, “Funny how @realkevinnash says wrestling “died” when Benoit and Guerrero were champs-Yet the worst year for WWE biz was 95 when he was on top.”

The oft-used point originated from Wrestling Observer editor Dave Meltzer, who has repeated stated over the years that WWE had its worst financial period in company history in 1995 when Nash held the WWF Championship as Diesel.

Nash responded to Jericho’s tweet minutes later, writing, “Once again the puppet master pulls the marks strings .Knew Jericho was a closet mark.First one eliminated on a bulls–t sing show…REALLY!!”

Jericho quickly shot back, “Hope @realkevinnash doesn’t tear his quad tweeting! #typicalbigman #nwothirdwheel.”

Nash’s interview comments triggering Jericho’s rebuttal were: “When Benoit and Guerrero hugged [at the end of WrestleMania XX], that was the end of the business. Has business been the same since that WrestleMania? Has it come close to the Austin era? Has it come close to the nWo or the Hogan era? You put two fucking guys that were great workers that were the same height as the fucking referees, and I’m sorry, man. Are you going to watch a porno movie with a guy with a three-inch dick? Even if you’re not gay, you will not watch a porno movie with a guy with a three-inch dick. That’s not the standard in porno films. So you put a 5-foot-7 guy as your world champion.”

This is what Nash’s career has come to, sad. Frankly Scott Hall currently has a better drug induced career at this point. Also would like to point out Nash probably wouldn’t say that when his boy HBK was on top.

STFU Jericho, Wrestling is shit now, Nash is right, Raw died a long time ago, maybe not at Mania 20 but not long after, everything is a joke now. Ive quit watching it since Raw 1000, I cant stand the stupidity of it anymore.

i agree that wrestling is a pale shadow of its former self, but jericho is mad because kevin nash is blaming it on wrestlers who had more talent than nash ever had (wrestling wise) and two guys that worked very hard to get where they got. Jericho has a good point that Nash’s 95 title reign coincided with the wwe’s worst financial period. It’s false that size is the only thing that matters in wrestling. Talent and charisma are what counts for most of it. Height is just a nice side dish. The legend eddie guerrero, benoit, and malenko were brilliant wrestlers, and it is very disrespectful for nash to make a comment about a legend (eddie) who is now dead.

Since Raw 1000? Damn that was AGES ago… Lol.

I stopped watching Raw in full length a long time ago, I was only watching when my sister texted me and said that certain wrestling were on. Now after Raw 1000, I’ve quit 100%

I’ll tell you what KEVIN fn NASH ya big goofball. Never mind Chris Jericho, or the others you’ve slagged off. I’m a good foot shorter than you and i’ve 100 lbs or so less fat on me than you, and i’m a wee bit older than you, and i’ve never wrestled in my life, though i’m quite well versed in certain martial arts. I’ve the bollocks to say this directly to you Kevin Nash: I’ll come over from England, and get in a professional wrestling ring with you, in a wrestling match under todays rules under the supervision of one of America’s wrestling promotions, and we’ll let the fans decide who is fucking up wrestling. You can contact me via this site as they’ll have my email address, so you’ve no excuse to decline. Put your money where your big mouth is Nash, and BOOK IT.

I’ll admit, After reading this article, up to the last tweet from Y2J, got me craking up hard so much I farted.

“Hope @realkevinnash doesn’t tear his quad tweeting!” Haha classic!

What Nash needs to remember is it’s what the fans think that counts, and only that. He also needs to remember that if it wasn’t for Shawn Michaels, he would have just been a life long jobber like his early days in WCW as Vinny Vegas. To disrespect wrestlers who had real talent is one thing, but to disrespect wrestlers no longer with us is about as low as it gets.

  • Captain Chaos

Oh yeah, and as far as wrestling ability and talent is concerned, and i’ll keep it in Nash’s in ring era, Barry Howowitz had more by a long way. Take away the mic, and he was nothing, just like he is today.

That last tweet was Chris Jericho during his Raw Is Jericho era

Nash is far from the greatest thing that happened in the business and his winning of the World Title from Sideshow Bob Backland in less than 10 seconds was a joke IMHO. Especially after Backland won it from Bret Hart in an epic match and then lose it in a quash is an insult to hard workers like Backland and Hart. Nash should do the business a favour and go away as he is way past his best before date.
