Konnan Says Jeff Jarrett Will Be Launching A New Promotion With Toby Keith

Posted by Brad Davis January 6, 2014 7 Comments

Konnan said on the latest MLW podcast that he spoke to Jeff Jarrett over the weekend and Jarrett told him he’s planning to make a big announcement this week (Monday or Tuesday) about the formation of a new wrestling promotion. Granted, it’s coming from Konnan, but it’s something to look out for.

Konnan said Jarrett hinted that country music star Toby Keith would be the majority investor in the project, but stopped short of naming Keith directly. He also said Jarrett told him that TNA is in bad shape, which is not surprising, considering TNA’s recent issues and Jarrett’s abrupt departure from the company he founded over a decade ago.

With Jim Ross’ being a free agent and tweeting that he recently met with Toby Keith, it should be interesting to see what comes of this.

Again, we’re working with a lot of speculation here, so take this one as a rumor.

i hope jeff jarret does start a new wrestling promotion to compete with wwe i dont think tna can recover from this downfall and people dont realize how important it is for wwe to have competition the only reason the attitude era even happened was because wcw was beating wwe in ratings and with jeff jarret and jim ross running a wrestling promotion they could run a successful wrestling promotion that can be a wwe alternative like tna was before hulk hogan and eric bischoff came in and ruined tna

If Jarret puts JR in charge of booking then it already has more potential than TNA ever did. Hell, if they somehow score a coup and get CM Punk, AJ Styles, and Paul Heyman then WWE would be in trouble, especially if Heyman persuaded Lesnar to do shows.

Fuck yes.. Hopefully Jarret realizes the mistakes he made by selling TNA to Panda Energy and the Carter family. Jarret has a great relationship with most industry people whose last name isn’t McMahon so hopefully this will be great.

Wow. I really hope this is true. More competition can only be a good thing for the wrestling business.

What right does he have leaking this information? If it even proves to be true.
