The Latest On CM Punk’s WWE Status

Posted by Brad Davis March 5, 2014 37 Comments

Monday’s WWE RAW from Chicago came and went with no sign of CM Punk. Despite a report from Dave Meltzer and online speculation from several people in the industry, there were no plans at any point for Punk to be at the show.

Since leaving WWE, Punk has had almost no contact with WWE officials. While it’s possible he could return at some point, the general feeling is that he’s done with pro wresting.

Paul Heyman’s promo on RAW was done to write Punk off television without burying him, in the event that he does eventually come around. Heyman blamed the WWE Universe for Punk leaving as a way to get the anger heat of Punk leaving onto him and Brock Lesnar heading into WrestleMania.

Moving forward, CM Punk is being removed from all WWE marketing and publicity material, as well as video packages that air on television and at live events.

Punk has become what he supposedly hated. a wrestler motivated by being the top dog. many people, including him, have criticized people like hogan and nash for holding management hostage by demanding top booking and position. this is exactly what Punk has done. Vince just needs to fire him on TV for violating his contract. there is plenty of talent to use, anyway. Punk had the belt for over 400 days and still complains. If he is honest, he would realize he doesn’t command wm main event status. maybe Bryan does; maybe he doesn’t – but he doesn’t quit.

      • yoyo

        TLDR: Punk screwed Punk!

      • Viscagra

Punk has become what he hates ; He is the New York Yankees!

      • Undertaker316

first of all cm punk didnt leave because he was not on top he left because of wwe bringing in all these part timers who left wwe and immediately putting them on top taking away main even spots from the newer talent.second of all as for him having the champion ship for 434 days and still complaining he complains because he had to give up the title to the rock who is a yet another part timer who didnt deserve the title (they could of found another way to have rock vs cena 2) instead of having cm punk drop off the title to a newer wrestler and putting over that wrestler, also him leaving the company opens a main event spot for wrestlers like dolph ziggler, cesaro, kofi kingston, tyson kidd, sami zyan etc.

I couldn’t agree with you more!!! CM Punk is pissed because guys like Batista, Brock Lesnar, and Rock wrestle a few times a year and get top billing at Wrestlemania and other PPV’s. It isn’t fair or right it would be like a normal person busting their ass at work and the boss gives all the credit and a bonus to a new hire. I respect Punk for taking a stand.I also think Triple H plays favorites and holds down wrestlers he never liked like Punk and Bryan.

          • Ryan Allen Shadman

Batista has a full time 2 year contract, people should stop calling him a part timer.

          • never mad its life bro

Funny thing is if punk does come bk he’s just gonna be a part timer too lol hypocrite crybaby what he is.

Cm Punk is not one of those guys that just leaves and you never hear from again hes like one of the guys like Jeff Hardy, RVD, Matt Hardy, and Hulk Hogan you get what I’m saying hes not going to leave Pro Wrestling cause of Triple H or Who Ever He loves wrestling and he’ll come to give us his best its just he needs to give it some time and RELAX, THINK, And Not Pressure Himself Hes The Best In The World like he says and he’ll eventually come and fight for whats right!!!

      • yoyo

Correction: Bret Hart is the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be!

        • http://Www.wwe.com Ry5060

I agree Bret Hart was the best I have RESPECT for him but I was saying cm punk is also one of the bests

      • Robert

Actually CM Punk is the kind of guy that would just leave and be never heard from again. Not bashing him or anything, he just seems like whenever he decides to call it quits, he’s done. I’m a huge Punk fan, so hopefully he’s not truly gone, but I have a strong feeling that he is.

        • BigShow72

He’s tired of the backstage politics that Triple H and the McMahon’s play.

        • http://Www.wwe.com Ry5060

I also agree you man Its just I think Punk may come back he just need some time

      • Captncharisma

Punk has said on more then one occasion, that when he is done with Wrestling, he is done and you will never see him again. I really don’t think he is done right now, i think he is just resting and reflecting on everything that is going on. He also has said that if he was not on raw/smackdown etc. that he would not be a fan of today’s product. He said today’s product is a shell of what it could be, but that the people who could help make it better are being held down.

        • http://Www.wwe.com Ry5060

I agree with you its just I think dont for get about Punk cause only god can tell if hes coming back you know

    • dzt

Punk is coming back at Mania to feud with DB, the promo from Heyman will start that.

    • Callihan Mark

Why do people like punk anyway? He got over with a “pipebomb” that in reality was just a shoot promo.. get over with kayfabe then I’ll be impressed. Then again I am only a fan of pro wrestling and these are my opinions.

      • chrissi calvert

Go watch his matches in the Indies (esp the ones against Samoa Joe & Eddie Guerrero)

        • Callihan Mark

I already have. The Joe matches were good but in the matches with Eddie he was green as fuck, he even said so himself.

      • nateman316

Maybe you didn’t realize who CM Punk was until the epic pipe bomb in Vegas, but he was great even before that happened. Look at the Survivor Series 2006, Punk’s 1st PPV, he teamed up with DX and the Hardy’s, and Punk got a bigger pop and had more fans cheering for him than the other 4 of them.

        • Callihan Mark

I knew who he was I’m not an idiot. I still stand by my comments, he’s nothing special

    • Undertaker316

i still think he will return on the raw after wrestlemania

      • Bulkster

What would be the point though? Especially if his deal is almost up. I think we’ve seen the last of C.M. Punk. At least for the near future.

        • Undertaker316

the point would be for him to have a proper final run before his contract expires after having time to rest and recover, i dont want cm punks last match in wwe to be in the royal rumble match

          • nateman316

I don’t want it to be his last match either. I am glad though that I was at the Smackdown before the Royal Rumble in GR and seen him wrestle.

    • Theodore Krhtikos

I’m still with Punk on this one.He worked his ass OFF,he deserves much better. He is talented in ring,on mic,on commentary-everything he does,is at its best.
He will be back or he won’t.Doesn’t matter. His promo was, ultimately,a prophecy.WWE still underutilizes talent.

    • Bulkster

All these Punk non stories are starting to sound exactly the same. Punk is gone. We don’t need the same story everyday.

    • Chris_Is_Awesome

lol your news are pwi articles published 5 hours later, great job…

    • never mad its life bro

Cm punk is just being a bitch actually jus like a little kid its a entertainment business sure hes popular but he doesn’t draw big money like rock and brock. If he wants to be around young worthless talent go to Tna lie mvp isnt it “real wrestling” there lol grow up punk bitchin n complaining like a female u rich motha fucka cus of guys like rock who made wwe as big as it is. Not the best in the world that title should go to sumone who doesn’t turn their bk or throw fits wen they don’t get what they want

    • chrissi calvert

To those who are calling Punk a crybaby, how many of you ACTUALLY know why he left? NONE of you. There are other reasons behind him walking out that you seem to be forgetting. Hes been wrestling the last year and a bit injured, hes been requesting time off to heal since his match against Taker but hes been pushed into feud after feud after feud, hes burned out. Is he happy about certain wrestlers coming back and taking the spots of more deserving wrestlers: YES but hes actually friends with Batista and hes said that he doesnt mind if hes coming back full time. Hes also unhappy with how WWE treat some of the guys and girls backstage and has been trying to stick up for them when some of them feel like they dont have a voice in the locker room.

      • never mad its llife bro

Well u can’t deny cm punk is being a big cry baby for whatever reason its not right.he hates on the rock and batista but why they put plenty of time in the business but yet still gets angry to see them come bk and get pushed. Its not their fault they sale more tickets then him much more star power then punk. Dont get me wrong hes really talented but hes definitely not the best in the world by any circumstances jus new generation shit talker. Just wondering why no one hates on undertaker he comes once a year nd takes a spot at wrestlemania from a young talent am i wrong?

        • chrissi calvert

Taker hasnt left the company, been away for 7 years and then walked back in like Dwayne did. Taker is also on a limited appearance contract (like Brock Lesnar, RVD) so he only has to do so many Raw, SD and his PPV appearance. Punk has also said that he doesnt hate Batista for coming back because he is on a full time contract, but he hates the timing and how Batista was bought back. He feels like the guys who are there 365 nights are being walked over when it comes to returning talent

          • never mad its life bro

The guys getting walked over should stand up for themselves look at stone cold he was pushed to the side. But never gave up he spoke up nd made himself guys these days are pussies for not having the balls to speak up nobody pays dues anymore they expect to push young talent who hasn’t traveled the world working for different organizations you expect people who have a little fan base to get pushed on that alone. They should go earn it not cry about guys who actually bring ratings nd keep the company afloat its a business . And ur forgetting Dwayne help make wwe what it is today he grew up in the business how many young talents can u say that bout? He didn’t take his ball nd go home wen hulk hogan nd the nwo returned bk in the day hogan was gone for more then 7 yrs came bk and was pushed nor did he bitch.

            • nateman316

1st of all, Punk was pushed to the side and made himself just as much as Austin did. 2nd of all, most of the roster in the WWE has traveled the world working for different organizations. 3rd of all, there are plenty of wrestlers in the WWE that has more than a little fan base, for the past 3 to 4 years or so, CM Punk has had the biggest fan base. The only person that comes close to Punk’s fan base right now is Daniel Bryan. 4th of all, encase you don’t realize, CM Punk has brought more ratings and sold more merchandise than any other wrestler in the past 3 years. 5th of all, I’m gonna name off a few wrestlers that are 2nd and 3rd generation: Goldust, Cody Rhodes, Michael McGillicutty or Curtis Axel, whatever name you wanna call him, Randy Orton, Primo, The Uso’s, Alberto Del Rio, Roman Reigns, and Road Dogg, and only a couple of them have gotten any recognition. 6th of all, Hulk Hogan didn’t take his ball and went home, he went to WCW, then the WWE, then to TNA, and now he’s back in the WWE and everyone was happy to see him that night. And before you start replying back to this, I’m not trying to stick up for this new generation of wrestlers or wrestling fans, I’m just stating the facts. I’ve been watching wrestling full time for the past 25 years.

    • Pipebomb

Punk will Main Event Wrestlemania in the future……it’s good he took his ball and went home I applaud him for doing that….there is a limit to what a human body can take…..he might come back at the Royal Rumble next year and win it……that’s only if he renews his contract deal with WWE…..he never going back to the indies…..his place has always been the WWE

    • Pinmepayme

I think he left because he got tired of the WWE becoming the HHH crony retirement home. I mean come on, the NAO, who haven’t been relevant for years, come back and win the tag titles. Batista come back after being gone for years, not only wins the rumble and headlines WrestleMania, he’ll probably win the title as well. Why don’t we get X-Pac and Chyna back and have a reunion.

    • nateman316

The bottom line is, the only person that knows EXACTLY why CM Punk left is Phil Brooks. I’m sick of all these people speculating and calling Punk a pussy for quitting and all this garbage. Does anyone remember when Stone Cold Steve Austin “took his ball and went home”? When he came back, everyone welcomed him back with open arms and in his hall of fame speech, he talked about how much he appreciated the fans for that. To all you former CM Punk fans that are pissed off at him now because of it, if he ever came back to the WWE, you ALL know damn well that you would go back to loving him as much, if not more, then you did before this all happened. Will CM Punk wrestle at Wrestlemania? Will CM Punk ever wrestle in the WWE or anywhere else ever again? Only Phil Brooks knows that answer.
