News on 2012 WWE Pay-Per-View Main Events, WWE Extends Mysterio Contract

- WWE has extended Rey Mysterio’s contract for the length of time from when he suffered his knee injury last August until his expected return. This will end up being roughly 10 or 11 months added to the end of his deal.

– With John Cena vs. Big Show scheduled to main event WWE’s No Way Out pay-per-view, the last time the World Heavyweight Title or WWE Title match main evented a pay-per-view was last December’s TLC pay-per-view when CM Punk vs. The Miz vs. Alberto Del Rio headlined.

That makes sense. They are kinda paying him for sitting and doing nothing. So, extend his contract a bit and get a return on the investment. They know he’s injury prone at his age so it would be a good time to analyze his abilities and his workrate during that time to see if it’s worth offering more.
It’s a smart business move on both parts.
