TNA iMPACT Rating, Tara's Wardrobe Malfunction, Kaz/Traci
Posted on 02.08.10 by Jason Stone | TNA News |
-- Thursday's episode of iMPACT! drew a final 1.2 cable rating with 1.6 million viewers — a drop from the previous week's record high 1.4 rating.
-- The latest gossip going around the web is that Frankie "Suicide" Kazarian was cheating on his wife, TNA knockout Traci Brooks, and she found out. The TNA couple recently got married, and you can check out the wedding pics right here.
-- Peculiarly, the left side of Tara's top was blurred throughout the conclusion of her match with Angelina Love on this past Thursday's iMPACT! broadcast. It seems strange because the blurring commenced once the match came back from a commercial break and carried on towards its conclusion. Furthermore, it would not appear to be a case of an insignia issue as the top she wore simply read "Poison" with no logo beared. Also note, she's worn the ring outfit before on television. It's been speculated that Tara suffered a wardrobe malfunction at some point during the match and that TNA's production staff decided to digitize her top through the conclusion of the match as a precautionary measure. Tara's apparent wardrobe malfunction comes on the heels of last month's live iMPACT! special where ODB pulled her trunks a bit too far south while attempting a roll-up. The TNA Women's Knockout Champion's buttocks was blurred during the episode's subsequent Thursday replay.

The Honky Tonk Man Admits To Making Up TNA Rumors - 24Wrestling.com

The Honky Tonk Man Admits To Making Up TNA Rumors
Posted on 02.08.10 by Jason Stone | TNA News |
During an appearance on The Shoot radio show this past week, The Honky Tonk Man admitted to making up the rumors saying he was going to TNA. He said he "worked everybody" and admitted that he was never in talks with the company.
Here is a recap of his radio interview:
This past Thursday February 4th, The Honky Tonk Man was a guest on The Shoot radio show. Host Gary Cantrell welcomed him to the show and recognized him as a legend and the Greatest Intercontinental champion of all time. Honky Tonk Man referred to himself as the "Most Controversial Figure in Professional Wrestling". Gary replied that "with the most controversial figure in professional wrestling and the most controversial internet wrestling radio show things could get insane".
HTM didn't waste anytime laying jabs into certain people. His first target was TNA's Bubba the Love Sponge whom he referred to as Todd Alan Clem which was Bubba's old legal name. HTM mentioned that he was in Bubba's old hometown of Warsaw Indiana recently and claimed that the people of Warsaw "ran that fat prick out of town". He claimed the people saw Bubba as "common ordinary Trailer Park trash". Gary asked HTM about his first experience on the Bubba show. "I was ambushed on that show" replied HTM referring to the time he was tricked onto Bubba's show. Gary mentioned that it was "Spice Boy" (Matt Loyd) who hosted the fake show that lured HTM on. "I wouldn't recognize him if he came out of my ass" referring to Spice Boy.
HTM mentioned that he was done speaking of Mr. Clem and wanted to move on asking Gary who he wanted him to shoot on next. Gary said he wanted to talk about HTM's ass whooping list. According to HTM the top of the list was TNA's Eric Bischoff. "If Eric Bischoff was laying on the side of the road and his heart was on fire, I'd don't even think I'd stop to piss in his mouth." said the Honky Tonk Man.
At this point, what Honky Tonk Man doesn't realize is that Spice Boy is waiting on hold and can hear all of what HTM is saying. Gary mentions that he has a few callers on the line that want to speak to him and HTM says he doesn't want to talk to any of those "Bubba Army" guys but he welcomed controversy. Gary welcomes the first "caller" on. The caller identifies himself as Matt from the Bubba show. The insults begin to fly between these two, with quite a bit of expletives too much for one recap to contain. To hear all of the "good stuff" you'll have to listen to the show.
One piece of interesting information is when the Honky Tonk Man laughed and said he worked everybody and admitted that there never was talks or a deal with TNA. Spice Boy said the sad part was that the Honky Tonk Man probably thought he had a chance with TNA. "I worked you f*****s all the way to the very end, there was no deal" said the Honky Tonk Man.

Details On Jeff Hardy's Actual Status With TNA
Posted on 02.08.10 by Jason Stone | TNA News |
According to a source within TNA, Jeff Hardy is telling people that he's still "supremely confident" that he will get out of the current legal mess he's in, and if he does, he's headed to TNA.
When Hardy debuted with TNA back on the live, January 4th Impact special, the deal was for one night only despite reports claiming that he had signed some type of extended contract with the company.
Hardy's agent is still negotiating with TNA, but Jeff fully expects to be a full-time member of the TNA roster if/when his legal situation clears up.

Bret Hart Says He Wouldn't Work With Bischoff & Hogan
Posted on 02.07.10 by Jason Stone | WWE News |
On his Facebook account, Bret Hart made some interesting comments regarding TNA. He wrote the following:
"It was nice seeing Jeremy Borash, a longtime friend of mine, from TNA while I was in Nashville. He hung out with me and we never once talked wrestling. Some feeble minded idiot who saw us in plain view tried to start the rumour that I might be heading to TNA next; although why anyone would ever think I'd let Hogan and Bischoff anywhere near my Hitman persona again is truly beyond me."
Bischoff referred to Borash as a "mark" last week on his Twitter account for posting a photo of himself and Hart after their dinner, which also included several other TNA staffers.

Hogan & Bischoff Upset With Sting Over Missing Shows - 24Wrestling.com

Hogan & Bischoff Upset With Sting Over Missing Shows
Posted on 02.05.10 by Jason Stone | TNA News |
Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff appeared on The Bubba the Love Sponge Show last Friday for a combination work/shoot interview segment that included one new piece of news, which was Bischoff knocking Sting for missing the last set of television tapings.
Sting missed last month’s Genesis pay-per-view and subsequent television tapings due to a family emergency, though it remains unclear what is was exactly. What is known is that nobody is questioning its legitimacy considering that he has been in the wrestling industry for years and has never had a reputation for coming up with excuses to miss dates.
Bischoff said that everyone in TNA has to be completely committed to the organization or things won’t work out, with Hogan adding he doesn’t see how they can use anyone missing shows. Internally, it was noted as a message being sent to Sting, though it’s unlikely he’ll get it considering that he pays no attention to the wrestling business except on days when he’s working as he doesn’t follow it online. Nonetheless, the belief was Sting had a very legitimate reason for missing the last set of shows.
Bischoff said, “Sting’s a great talent. Love him to death. My problem is now that we’re trying to do this big picture. I understand how big picture it is for the wrestling business. Sting had life-and-death personal issues, but from a business side, it totally screws us up. If at any time that happens, I got a personal issue, now we have to switch gears on who we use, you can’t build the world around them.
“Everybody has got to make a commitment. It’s easy to say we want TNA to be No. 1, but if you’re not willing to put TNA as a priority above almost every situation, then it’s probably not going to work out.”

Scott Steiner Parts Ways With TNA?, Full Details
Posted on 02.05.10 by Jason Stone | TNA News |
It would appear that Scott Steiner has parted ways with TNA as his bio was removed from the company website this evening.
Steiner's status with the company has been in question for months. In fact, he met with TNA talent relations director Terry Taylor on 1/5 to discuss his future with the company. He has not been used since.
It should be noted that a few days before her passing on 1/5, veteran journalist Georgiann Makropoulos reported Steiner expressing his displeasure towards the organization in front of fans at the Orlando hotel the wrestlers were staying at for that's week television tapings.

"NXT Wrestling" Already Exists, Owner Speaks Out On WWE
Posted on 02.04.10 by Jason Stone | WWE News |
Shortly after WWE announced ECW is being shutting down to make way for the “NXT” generation of programming, a light was shined on an existing NXT – NXT Wrestling, an independent promotion based out of Scotland. NXT Wrestling sent out the following today:
NXT Wrestling. Established 2006.
A Renfrewshire-based company in Scotland has come under threat from US media giants after a global enterprise decided to use their name and tagline.
Global media giants World Wrestling Entertainment have recently announced their plans to launch WWE:NXT, the NXT Generation of wrestling. This has since been a cause for concern for Scottish promotion NXT Wrestling, a local company who risk getting squashed in favour of the multi-million dollar WWE headed by Vince McMahon.
NXT Wrestling was announced in 2006 and launched in 2007 as a way of giving young men with dreams their chance to break free from their lives and live for a few moments in the spotlight. NXT and it’s associated promotion the Scottish Wrestling Alliance have strived to bring quality family entertainment to towns and halls across the West of Scotland, culminating in the struggle to bring an ailing genre into the spotlight with events in Kelvin Hall, and has helped raise funds for charities including Torkhill Childrens Foundation.
When WWE announced their new brand as NXT, using the same tagline ‘NXT Generation’ and emphasis on developmental talent, staff and employee’s began to worry when they woke up to the new on Wednesday morning.
“We have had no direct contact from WWE regarding this matter but we welcome any conversation or resolution they would like to put forward.” Commented Peter Murphy, owner of the Scottish Wrestling Alliance.
“Everyone at the Scottish Wrestling Alliance is honoured that WWE have decided to name their latest product after SWA’s feeder programme, NXT. We would like to assure our fans that the original NXT is still leading the way for trainees in Scotland and the shows on 6th February, Spittal Community Centre, Rutherglen, 19th February, Bargarran Community Centre, Erskine, March 6th, Viewpark Community Centre, Uddingston and March 19th, Links Community Centre, Cumbernauld are all still due to go ahead as advertised.”
After long and careful planning, SWA:NXT made it’s debut in January 2007 as a promotion designed to showcase up and coming talent within Scotland in conjunction with SWA’s Area 52 wrestling school. In 2009 NXT Wrestling split from the Scottish Wrestling Alliance to stand on it’s own two feet, taking it’s own creative direction in September last year.
The goal within the company is to give younger talent an opportunity to showcase their abilities and get noticed. Several of our NXT talents over the years have gone on to work across the UK, gain international interest and win NWA Heavyweight championships. NXT promoted shows across the West of Scotland with our next event scheduled this weekend, February 6th in Rutherglen which features some fresh young talent who have risen through the ranks of their training facility and earned their place on the event.

The Latest On TNA iMPACT Moving To Monday Nights - 24Wrestling.com

The Latest On TNA iMPACT Moving To Monday Nights
Posted on 02.04.10 by Jason Stone | TNA News |
Partial Source: The Wrestling Observer
The decision has been made within TNA that iMPACT will be going to Mondays full-time but it’s not known yet when those changes will take effect and it’s unknown if the show will air from 8-10pm or 9-11pm.
The current plan has TNA taping the show every other week doing a live shot on Monday and taping on Tuesday with the taped show airing the next Monday. Because of the occasional odd number of weeks between pay-per-views, it’s possible there will be times there TNA will tape three shows or do a taping where they would fly people in just for one live Monday.
TNA may make the decision to go live every Monday night depending on how low the ratings for taped shows are. iMPACT going to Monday nights has actually been discussed between Hogan, Bischoff, TNA officials and Spike since October of 2009.
Also, Devin Cutting sent this in this morning: "It looks as if TNA to Monday nights is still in limbo. The Spike TV website has once again changed the schedule, and TNA Impact is now scheduled to air on Thursday, March 4th at 9PM. On that week, they have a series called Playbook listed in the Monday night slot. There is no word on what happened here, as Spike could have changed it back so that TNA could make the announcement themselves, or the negotiations to move to Monday's could have hit a snag."

Hogan Recruits RVD For TNA Live On Radio, Talks Jeff Hardy
Posted on 02.04.10 by Jason Stone | TNA News |
Hulk Hogan appeared on Rob Van Dam’s RVD Radio this week and talked to the former WWE and ECW Champion about coming into TNA. Hogan called up to speak with Van Dam personally but ended up appearing as a live caller on the radio show.
Hogan told Van Dam that TNA has some serious momentum right now and if they had RVD “ruling the roost”, it would make things a lot easier. Van Dam asked Hogan about TNA on Monday nights and Hogan said the move is definitely going to happen sooner than later. Hogan said TNA needs RVD’s help.
Van Dam said he is very interested in hearing what Hogan has to say about him coming in. Van Dam told Hogan that now is a better time than ever as his wife is healthy, he is healthy and he’s not burnt out. RVD said he was curious about coming into TNA and said that he and Hogan should probably do some more talking off the air.
Hogan said he was on the phone with Jeff Hardy earlier, talking about Van Dam and other things. Hogan said he and Hardy were coming up with crazy ideas that he guaranteed were going to work. Hogan kept saying how much fun everyone is having in TNA. RVD asked Hogan if it was his decision to go back to the four-sided ring and Hogan confirmed it was. Hogan put down the six-sided ring and Van Dam agreed with the decision.
It was interesting hearing Hogan and Van Dam go back and forth. You can listen to the show at Blogtalkradio.com/rvdradio. Hogan appears at about the 23 minute part.
One more thing from the show that stuck out was that Van Dam said that he and Sabu had been talking about both of them together in TNA. Sabu is a regular guest on RVD’s show with Booker T and others.

Hogan Frustrated Backstage, Hall & Waltman's Status, Angle
Posted on 02.04.10 by Jason Stone | TNA News |
-- As for the news that Scott Hall and Sean Waltman are gone from TNA, this is not the case. The duo has been removed from the TNA iMAPCT! opening video as well as the TNA Roster page on the company website, but them being removed is part of the storyline.
-- Despite the positive spin he’s putting on TNA in media interviews, Hulk Hogan has been complaining to friends that he’s frustrated with several things in TNA. Hogan feels pressure to push people he does not believe in – namely, some of the TNA originals. Word is that Dixie Carter doesn’t want the TNA originals to be buried by Hogan’s buddies, but there are some TNA originals that Hogan sees nothing in and wants to get rid of. Hogan is said to be a big fan of Abyss as well as Tomko, saying at least both men look like wrestlers.
-- TNA star Kurt Angle’s name came up in a federal trial of nine men associated with Applied Pharmacy in Mobile, Alabama that is going on this week. Assistant US Attorney Donna Dobbins brought up Angle and Jose Canseco as clients of the pharmacy in her closing arguments on Tuesday. She said, “Each one of them (the defendants) participated in this conspiracy. They operated a steroid mill, and they would dispense anabolic steroids to anyone whose credit card was good.”
-- Ed “Brutus Beefcake” Leslie was backstage at the TNA iMPACT tapings on January 20th. Leslie is a longtime friend of Hulk Hogan.

Hogan Wants To End Old Rivalry, iMPACT Tapings, Flair, Pope
Posted on 02.03.10 by Jason Stone | TNA News |
-- During an interview pushing TNA, Hulk Hogan said he wants to reconcile with Jesse Ventura. "The Body" blames Hogan for destroying his chance to unionize the WWF wrestlers in the 1980s. Hogan explained his stormy relationship with Ventura with the following: "I never knew that Jesse didn't like me, you know, because the whole time that he was working with me and for me, we had a great rapport. Just out of nowhere, Jesse started coming at me and attacking me on a personal level. You know, I just don’t understand. I don’t have a lot of respect for just a one-sided story. So I really don't know the real Jesse Ventura. I thought I did. So I really don’t know what he thinks." When asked if he'd like to reconcile with Ventura, he responded with the following: "Oh, I would love to. I would love to. I'm dying to find out what made him snap, you know, because I was around when we were doing the wrestling. Jesse came to Japan one day, you know, and he worked one or two main events the whole time I was around. And I would love to find out what really makes him tick just for curiosity reasons."
-- TNA has released new T-shirts featuring "The Pope", Ric Flair, Amazing Red at ShopTNA.com. They have also released new merchandise on Hulk Hogan and Tara.
-- The next set of iMPACT! tapings will be taking place two weeks from now on Monday, Feb. 15 and Tuesday, Feb. 16.
-- TNA will be airing the February 14th Against All Odds PPV live on the TNA Video Vault website, which is the first time they are doing this. You can get more information at TNAVideoVault.com.
-- In today's wrestling birthdays, WWE Hall of Famer Dory Funk, Jr. turns 69, Haku turns 51, Marty Jannetty turns 48 and the father of TNA Knockout Lacey Von Erich, Kerry Von Erich, would have turned 50.

I am going to be having a healthy baby girl in May! It is so crazy the fun changes that you go through when preggos! Thankfully for the Internet, I can get all my fun, crazy, and just weird questions answered! I have decided to start blogging a bit about my pregnancy on my Web site, CandiceMichelle.com, so stay tuned for updates." (Candice Michelle pictures)

Howard Finkel Disses WWE Ring Announcer
Posted on 02.03.10 by Jason Stone | WWE News |
During a live chat prior Monday's Raw, Howard Finkel criticized ECW ring announcer Savannah's performance during the previous night's Royal Rumble.
"Did anyone catch Savannah's two goofs last night announcing Ezekiel Jackson? Well, she did not announce Zeke as the challenger. Furthermore, she announced him as weighing 209 pounds," Finkel said. "Folks, I might be a little tough on the announcers, but let's face it... You are on a WWE PPV, you DO NOT screw up."
He continued, "Savannah is getting better, agreed, but as the BEST ring announcer ever, I can speak my mind!"

RVD Blasts Lionsgate Films Over DVD Controversy
Posted on 02.03.10 by Jason Stone | WWE News |
Rob Van Dam will be starring in the upcoming straight-to-DVD action movie "Wrong Side of Town" - or so he thought.
During an interview on the "Between the Ropes" radio show, Van Dam accused the studio Lionsgate of taking him off top billing in favor of his co-star, WWE superstar Batista. Van Dam was under the impression that it was his movie, he'd be the star and Batista was a supporting character. He couldn't believe his eyes when he saw that Batista was featured front and center on the DVD box.
"I thought it was my movie. The movie was written for me, I was there for three weeks, filmed every day except for one day, they came out with the DVD box cover and, oh my God, I didn't realize Batista is the star of it!," RVD said sarcastically.
RVD was told this action movie was his vehicle to transition into being an action star, but now he doesn't even know how the movie will turn out after it's edited and reworked.
"I was completely confused. They said this was like a vehicle for me to go into these other action movies and, yeah, Batista is the star. He was there for two days. I feel like Lionsgate pulled the carpet out from underneath my feet when I was looking. Hopefully when you watch it, I'm still starring in it."
The "Wrong Side of Town" will be released on DVD February 23.

Taz & Tommy Dreamer Speak On The End Of ECW On Sci Fi
Posted on 02.03.10 by Jason Stone | WWE News |
Last night on ECW, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon announced that the ECW brand is being put to rest once and for all this month. WWE will be introducing a new brand, dubbed WWE NXT, which will feature the "next generation" of WWE superstars.
ECW originals Taz and Tommy Dreamer have posted messages on Twitter about McMahon's announcement and neither sounds happy with how it was handled.
Tommy Dreamer was vague with his comments, but expressed general frustration:
"Many people have asked me why I left WWE. If you watched ECW tonight, a piece of the puzzle was revealed for my actions. Stay tuned."
Taz on the other hand criticized Vince McMahon for not giving credit to the people who actually made ECW the force it once was. He wrote:
"So, WWE ending their 'vision' of ECW (thank god). ANY ORIG ECW wrestlers get a thanks? How about Paul Heyman did he get a thanks? Classy move!"

Bret Hart & TNA Staff Meet After RAW, The Rock Criticized
Posted on 02.02.10 by Jason Stone | WWE News |
-- After RAW last night, Bret Hart met up and had dinner at Bailey's in Nashville, TN with some TNA staffers, including Jeremy Borash. Borash posted a picture on Twitter at this link.
-- Movie website Cinematical.com features a fan rant questioning the success of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's movie career. The article flashes back to Johnson's 2003 action movie "The Rundown," which featured a cameo from Arnold Schwarzenegger, who told Johnson to "Have fun" in a symbolic passing of the "action hero" torch. Since then, Johnson has only done two other action movies (Walking Tall and Doom) and has settled into a career of comedies and kids movies. The author questions whether the era of action movie stars is over and suggests that The Rock's upcoming return to WWE is a result of his movie career not taking off as he had hoped.

Former Stars Backstage At PPV, McMahon's Spending, SD
Posted on 02.02.10 by Jason Stone | WWE News |
-- Former WWE, ECW, and TNA star Johnny Swinger/Parisi was backstage at the Royal Rumble PPV last night. It's believed that former diva Terri Runnels was backstage as well.
-- Former WWE CEO Linda McMahon has already spent about $6.5 million of her own money on a bid for the U.S. Senate, according to a new campaign finance report released this week. McMahon is one of three Republicans vying for the GOP nomination, hoping to fill the seat being vacated by Democratic U.S. Sen. Chris Dodd.
-- Devin Cutting sent this in: Next week on February 9th, the city of New Orleans has announced that they will host a parade for the New Orleans Saints, whether they win the Super Bowl or not. The parade would conflict with the ECW/Smackdown tapings on that day, and the tapings will now be moved to Baton Rouge at the Baton Rouge River Center at 6:30PM on Tuesday, February 9th.
The New Orleans event has been rescheduled, and will take place on May 28th. WWE will honor the tickets purchased for the February 9th event.

Bischoff Likes Working With Russo, Samoa Joe Shoots On Hall
Posted on 02.02.10 by Jason Stone | TNA News |
-- With the recent additions of Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan to TNA Wrestling, many have wondered how they would interact with Vince Russo, whom they had trouble working with in WCW. Eric Bischoff has posted a few messages on Twitter this week about Russo specifically: On Monday, Bischoff wrote: "Vince Russo has a new book out....I am going to be VERY interested in what he has to say in his book. Hmmm." This morning, he wrote: "Sorry to disappoint all of you who are expecting heat between Russo and I. Actually enjoy working with him so far. Ed [Ferrara] and Matt [Conway] too."
-- TNA star Samoa Joe was interviewed by TNA's official website and talked about "dead weight "on the TNA roster. Joe also defended the infamous shoot promo he cut at Turning Point 2007, when he verbally blasted Scott Hall in the middle of the ring for no-showing the event. Joe told TNA interviewer Hermie Sadler: "It was a statement that needed to be made. This is a company that can't have a lot of dead weight attached to it. You either come here to work or fight or get down or you don't come here at all. For the people that I was speaking about, I made it known I wasn't here to play games and just be a TV star. I'm here for this company to be the very best and for me to be the very best." Joe's admits that his comments were harsh, but he stands by everything he said and said them because he cares about the company's survival. "If anything that I said out there you didn't find to be true, then maybe you don't need to be here because everything I said out there I still stand by. I apologized for the tone to some people because they may have taken offense, but at the same time, in their heart of hearts, they knew everything I said out there was absolutely true."

What You Didn't See On WWE RAW This Week
Posted on 02.02.10 by Jason Stone | WWE News |
Thanks to site reader James Beckwith for sending in this live report from last night’s WWE RAW from Nashville:
- Raw was a virtual sellout including the upper decks. The only area tarped off was near the hard camera and that is normal for television tapings.
- I don’t know how it came across on TV, but the crowd was hot and had high energy for most of the night. John Cena was way over with this crowd. I’m talking close to Austin/Rock levels. They popped every time his image was on the Titantron and for every time he came out in the arena.
- The crowd chanted huge for Cena during the Batista beat down of Bret Hart.
After RAW Went Off The Air:
- I believe that Cena came running out after Raw went off the air. Batista and McMahon bailed and returned to the back immediately. Eventually, Bret got to his feet and made his way to the back as well. Then, the locally advertised main event took place. It was John Cena vs. Sheamus for the WWE title.
- John Cena beat WWE champion Sheamus via DQ, Sheamus retained the WWE Title. I expected an extremely short match or a Dusty Finish, but Sheamus and Cena put on a good 10-15 minute match. It ended when Cena had Sheamus in the STF and Batista ran in and broke the hold causing the DQ. Batista then went on an extended beat down of Cena with Sheamus incapacitated on the outside.
- Batista beat Cena with the ringside steps and then put the steps in the ring. He set up the Batista Bomb on the steps in the ring (which I expected Cena to power out of since they weren’t on television) and he powerbombed Cena onto the steps in a wicked looking spot. No comeback for Cena against Batista. Finally, Sheamus came back in the ring and stood over Cena while holding up the WWE Title. When he stepped away, Cena popped to his feet and gave Sheamus the Attitude Adjustment to send the crowd home happy.
Lots of Cena’s new shirt in the crowd and tons of glowsticks. WWE is making a fortune off those glowsticks.
Biggest Pops – Anything Cena – Triple H – Edge after he speared Sheamus.
Most Heat: – Edge before spearing Sheamus – Mr. McMahon – Sheamus – Batista

Police Report: Helms Had Muscle Relaxers Without Perscription
Posted on 02.02.10 by Jason Stone | WWE News |
Credit: PWTorch.com
According to a police report obtained by TMZ, Gregory Helms had a single prescription pill believed to be a Soma at the time of his arrest last Wednesday morning in Kentucky, but Helms did not have a prescription for the muscle relaxant when police searched him. Helms was arrested along with Chris Jericho for public intoxication.
The state of Kentucky considers somas (carisoprodol) a controlled substance classified as a Schedule IV drug, which requires a prescription from a licensed physician to possess the drug.
Police did not charge Helms for possession of the drug. According to the report, Helms said he had a prescription, but he did not have it with him at the time of the arrest.
Although police did not charge Helms for any wrongdoing, the public information could lead to a Wellness Policy issue even though this was unrelated to a formal Wellness Policy test. WWE has two items on their Wellness Policy that could potentially affect Helms:
"The non-medical use of drugs belonging to this class, including, but not limited to, carisoprodol (Trade name Soma and others) and meprobamate (Trade name Miltown, Meprospan and others) is prohibited."
"The following uses of prescription medications are prohibited under the Policy: The use of a prescription medication without a valid prescription from a licensed and treating physician that was given for a legitimate medical purpose."

WWE Monday Night RAW Results - February 1, 2010
Posted on 02.01.10 by Jason Stone | Results |
Event: WWE Monday Night RAW Airdate: Monday, February 1st, 2010 (USA Network) Location: The Sommet Center in Nashville, Tennessee Results by 411 Mania
“Yes, sir, we promised you a great main event…”
-Live from the Sommet Center in Nashville, TN
-Hosted by Michael Cole & Jerry "The King" Lawler
-Royal Rumble winner Edge is out to start the show. He says he's back, and he's not just back in the WWE but back in the main event of Wrestlemania. He wants to take us back six months ago when he and Chris Jericho had won the Unified Tag Titles, and then he got injured. The doctors had him coming back in March or later, and maybe even later. He was sitting at home watching the Slammy's, and Chris Jericho thanked him for getting injured so he could team with the Big Show. He says when Jericho was making light of his injuries the room got very silent. Not because Dennis Miller bombed with another brutal joke. He made himself a promise that he has missed two Wrestlemania's due to injury, and he wasn't about to miss a third. He realized who he is, and that's the Ultimate Opportunist. He promised he was going to prove the doctors wrong, and rehab harder than he ever had before. He promised that he would enter the Royal Rumble, and he was going to win. Seven weeks later Chris Jericho has his Slammy and a mug shot on TMZ. He has a ticket to the main event of Wrestlemania. He can face any champion he wants. Two years ago he faced The Undertaker, and he lost. But unlike Shawn Michaels if he wants to get him again he can have him. He asks if the smart thing would be to go after the guy who is undefeated at Wrestlemania, or a guy who has never even been to Wrestlemania. He says he could make his decision now, but he's going to do the smart thing and wait until after The Elimination Chamber pay per view. One thing he does know is the Rated R Superstar is going to headline Wrestlemania. That brings out Sheamus, who says Edge has been back 5 seconds and he's already mouthing off. Sheamus says things has changed since he's been gone. Edge cracks that things have changed. Raw has been taken over by an evil Ronald McDonald. Sheamus says he was able to do something Edge couldn't do last year at Wrestlemania, and that's beat John Cena for the WWE Title. Edge reminds him that he made a career out of beating John Cena for the WWE Title. Sheamus says that was a long time ago, and this is now. If he can beat Cena and Orton he will have no trouble beating Edge. He tells him to run off to Smackdown before he gets hurt, and when Edge doesn't move Sheamus takes him out with a cheapshot. Sheamus goes for the big boot, but Edge ducks and takes him down. Edge delivers a spear, and stands tall over the fallen champion. Well any doubt on Edge's heel/face alignment was removed there.
Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match: John Cena vs. Cody Rhodes Poor Cody doesn't have a prayer here does he? Rhodes attacks early with a flurry of kicks stomping Cena down in the corner. Cena fights back, but is quickly taken down with a Side Russian Legsweep for two. Cody hits a swinging neckbreaker for two, and drops a knee on Cena for another near fall. Cody goes for another kneedrop that misses, and eats a pair of flying shoulderblocks from Cena. Cena goes for the protoplex, but Rhodes counters into a rollup for two. Cena goes right back to the protoplex this time connecting and hitting a five knuckle shuffle. Rhodes counters the attitude adjustment with a knee to the face, and drops Cena with a faceplant suplex. Rhodes hits a moonsault for two, and then catches a charging Cena with a knee to the face. Cena immediately hits an attitude adjustment after that to win at 2:50. Insert SuperCena complaints here. Match wasn't bad at all though. They packed a lot into just under three minutes. Winner: John Cena (Pinfall-Attitude Adjustment **)
-A recap of Montreal is followed by Josh Mathews catching up with Mr. McMahon. He asks if he's seen Bret Hart yet, but Vince says he hasn't and neither has anyone else. He doubts anyone will either because he doesn't think Bret will show up. Vince goes into his office where he finds someone who barged into his office. He asks if these Canadians have any humility at all, and says if he has something to say then say it. It's of course not Bret Hart but William Shatner. Shatner says as a fellow Canadian, as a fan of WWE, and more importantly as a human being he can't wait for Bret Hart to embarrass him tonight.
Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match: Jack Swagger vs. Triple H Why in the blue hell are we bothering with qualifying matches if this is what we're getting? What's next? Orton vs. Primo? Michaels vs. Chavo? Swagger grabs a go behind, and celebrates until he gets a right hand from HHH. HHH comes back with a high knee, and clotheslines Swagger over the top as we head to break.
We return with Swagger charging into a boot, but coming right back with a DDT for two. Swagger drops an elbow on HHH, and delivers a legdrop for two. Swagger goes for an abdominal stretch, but HHH counters into a hiptoss. HHH sidesteps a charging Swagger and fires him over the top rope to the floor. HHH comes out after him, but Swagger sends him face first to the apron. Back inside Swagger delivers a running powerslam for two, and locks in a rear chinlock. Swagger goes for a Vader Bomb, but HHH gets the knees up to counter. HHH hits the facebuster for two, and drives Swagger face first into the top buckle. HHH connects with the spinebuster for a two count. HHH goes for the pedigree, but Swagger counters into a backdrop. Swagger hits the Vader Bomb for two, and then delivers a belly to belly for a near fall. Swagger connects with a series of shoulderblocks in the corner, and then picks up HHH in position for another running powerslam. Swagger walks around like an idiot pointing at the Wrestlemania sign, so HHH counters into the Pedigree to finish at 9:07. Again Swagger goes in the ring and pushes a top guy to the limit in a good match. Is anyone paying attention? Anyone? Winner: Triple H (Pinfall-Pedigree ***)
-William Shatner delivers spoken word versions of Sexy Boy, My Time is Now, Booyaka 619, and The Game. This is epic.
-Triple H stops by Shawn's locker room to talk. Hornswoggle wants something, but HHH runs him off. He calls out Shawn for eliminating him, and says he never would have done that to him. Then he of course says of course he would and laughs it off. Shawn says it wasn't supposed to be this way, but HHH tells him to get over it. He says what he needs to do is get in that Elimination Chamber, and one of them will win the title. He's got no problem with tearing the house down with him in the main event, and all Shawn has to do to make it happen is beat Orton. I think Shawn lies down or something, because he didn't really look convinced.
Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match: Randy Orton vs. Shawn Michaels
Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match: Randy Orton vs. Shawn Michaels Orton backs Shawn into the corner, and they stare down as Orton breaks. A second trip to the corner ends with Shawn delivering a series of chops, and he then hits the ropes with a swinging neckbreaker. Shawn goes for Sweet Chin Music off the ropes, but Orton bails to the floor. Shawn goes out after him, so Orton heads inside and goes for the hangman's DDT. Shawn ducks out of that, and chops Orton into the ring. Shawn hits a crossbody off the top rope for two, but Orton comes back to reverse an Irish Whip sending Shawn upside down to the corner. Orton hits an inverted backbreaker, and begins his signature stomps. Shawn comes back with a chop, but Orton answers with the standing dropkick for two. Orton grabs a chinlock, and sets Shawn up on the top rope delivering a European Upper Cut. Orton tries for a superplex, but Shawn fights him off. Orton goes back for the superplex, but again Shawn fights him off this time setting up the vintage Shawn elbow drop. Shawn tunes up the band, but Orton ducks and goes for RKO. Shawn counters that into an inverted atomic drop, and hits a chop. Shawn hits the ropes, and delivers a flying forearm. Shawn nips up, but Orton catches him in the nip up and rolls him up for the quick pin at 6:39. Shawn again looks to be on the verge of snapping, as he storms off. Whatever is building here is working beautifully. Winner: Randy Orton (Pinfall-Rollup ***)
-Dibiase meets Orton in the back to congratulate him, and let him know he's really sorry about last night. He says he can't speak for Cody, but he's really sorry. Orton stops him, and just walks away in disgust.
Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match: Mark Henry vs. Ted Dibiase Henry shoves Dibiase away casually on the lockup, and follows with a big shoulderblock. Henry clotheslines Dibiase over the top to the floor, and heads outside after him. Dibiase is able to grab Henry's arm and wrap it around the ring post, but Henry comes back with a headbutt. Dibiase gives Henry a drop toehold sending him head first into the ringsteps, and then rolls back inside. Dibiase goes to work on the injured arm with a series of legdrops on the shoulder picking up a two count. Dibiase grabs an armbar, but Henry comes back with a clothesline. Henry tries an avalanche in the corner, but charges into the boot of Dibiase. Ted goes to the top rope for a crossbody, but gets caught and put on the apron. Dibiase drops down with the injured arm across the ropes, and comes inside to go for Dream Street. Henry pushes him into the corner, and again goes for an avalanche again but again it is dodged by Dibiase. Dibiase connects with an armbar DDT which picks up the upset victory at 3:07. In case you were wondering this proves that in WWE's eyes. Ted > Cody. Winner: Ted Dibiase (Pinfall-Armbar DDT *1/2)
-Special tribute is shown acknowledging the passing of WWE Hall of Famer Jack Brisco.
-Kelly and Gail make small talk when Maryse walks by to tell Gail she's really looking forward to that Championship match. She says she was watching Smackdown with what is going on with McCool and Mickie and how they are making a mockery of the title. She just wants a good title match, and then says something in French before leaving.
-Miz and Big Show are chilling in Shatner's locker room, and Miz says when TJ Hooker gets here he has no doubt he'll give them a Unified Tag Team Title match against DX. The Straight Edge Society shows up, and they are also looking for a title match because Teddy screwed them on Friday. That brings in the RAW MATCH NEGOTIATOR (complete with cheesy music and graphic). He makes a triple threat for next week, and then pimps Priceline.com and Wells Fargo before going to a freeze frame. Everyone else just looks at him like he's nuts and walks off.
-HHH tries a pep talk to Shawn in the locker room, and tells him he needs to get over this and move on. He tells him he's spiraling down, and it's not the end of the World. He says he's Mr. Wrestlemania, and he doesn't need The Undertaker for that. He says there are plenty of other guys for him to compete with at Wrestlemania. Shawn says "not for me" and walks out.
Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match: Kofi Kingston vs. The Big Show Miz heads out before the bell rings to get a closer look, and join the commentary team. Show overpowers Kofi at the outset delivering a headbutt and an open hand chop. Show delivers a forearm to the back, and hits a kneelift. Show fires Kofi away and charges with a boot, but Kofi ducks and Show straddles the top rope. Kofi hits a dropkick sending Show to the floor as we head to break.
We return with Show back in control delivering a headbutt to Kofi and hitting a big open hand chop. Show grabs a chinlock with the arm trapped. Kofi punches Show to get free, but another headbutt sends him crashing to the floor. Miz gets up to get all up in Kofi's grill as he lays on the floor, but MVP jumps from the crowd and attacks him before chasing him out the arena. Show palms Kofi's head up to the apron, but Kofi drops down with him. Kofi goes to the top rope, but loses his balance botching the one legged dropkick. He still hits it partially, and continues his comeback with a spin kick, and low dropkick setting up the boom drop for two. Kofi hops to the second rope for a series of right hands. Show goes for the chokeslam, but Kofi pokes him in the eye on accident. Show goes for the knockout punch. Kofi ducks and instead the referee gets decked, and Kofi gets dumped to the floor. Referee Scott Armstrong comes out and disqualifies Show for hitting the official at 8:21. Show pleads his case screaming that it was an accident, but his complaints go nowhere. Very weird finish, but it gets Kofi in the match where he can hit some big spots. Provided Edge doesn't steal his spot again. Winner: Kofi Kingston (Disqualification-Idiot Referee *1/2)
Bret vs. Vince is up to end the show.
Vince McMahon is shown walking. Here he comes.
- Back from a break and Jerry Lawler is in the ring. He introduces a personal friend of his and tonight's guest host, William Shatner. Shatner comes out with The Bella Twins. He enters the ring and falls on top of Lawler, knocking them both to the mat. Shatner introduces the best there was, is and ever will be... Bret Hart. The music hits and out comes The Hitman to a big pop.
Bret enters the ring and gets a nice reaction from the fans. Bret says he's had about a month to think about what happened the last time he was on RAW. Bret says he came back for all the right reasons, thinking he could put it all behind him. He says he thought wrong. Bret says he didn't come tonight to make peace or get closure, he came to talk to Vince McMahon face to face. Bret tells Vince to get his ass out here or he will come up there with a camera crew and find him. Bret says he don't like to wait and he's getting madder.
Vince comes strutting out to the stage in typical McMahon fashion. Vince says he has some things to get off his chest also but says he has never regretted anything he's said or done to Bret. Hart calls Vince the world's greatest liar. Bret says Vince couldn't lace up his father's jock strap, talking about Stu. Bret talks about having a stroke eight years ago and being in a wheelchair, wondering what it would be like to walk again. Bret says he found the courage to stand up and get past it but says he felt pathetic sometimes. Bret says he promised himself then he would never feel pathetic again in his life. Then, he says, he came back to RAW and offered Vince his hand and Vince kicked him, leaving him in the ring feeling pathetic again. Bret says he has a problem with that.
Bret says he worked for Vince 14 years and always thought that one day Vince would appreciate him. Bret says Vince described him as chewing gum that lost it's flavor a few weeks ago. Bret says this stick of chewing gum has just enough flavor in it to kick Vince's ass. Vince says Bret's name and gets the crowd to pop, going over all Bret's nicknames. Vince says Bret being the best is all a crock of crap. Vince says Bret isn't a hero and the crowd boo's. Vince says he can't understand what the fans see in Bret. Vince says he thinks Bret is pathetic. Vince says Bret has no personality and says if it weren't for Bret's opponents like HBK or Austin who had personality, Bret would be nothing. Vince says Bret has no charisma, no command over the English language and a hound dog looking face. Vince disses Bret's hair and the way he dresses. Vince says Bret deserves to be screwed.
Vince says he mentioned before how Stu Hart might go into the WWE Hall of Fame. Vince says he thought about it and says Stu won't be going into the Hall because he doesn't deserve it. Bret kicks Vince in the gut and unloads on him with right hands. Bret goes to lock on the Sharpshooter. Out of nowhere, Batista rushes the ring and beats Bret down. Batista holds Bret facing Vince. Vince rips into Bret's face and spits on him. They toss Bret aside. RAW goes off the air with Vince McMahon irate and the crowd chanting for John Cena.

Hall & Waltman's Futures In Question, TNA In Legal Trouble
Posted on 02.01.10 by Jason Stone | TNA News |
Credit: PWInsider.com
-- Scott Hall and Sean Waltman have already been removed from the TNA iMPACT opening video. Many are wondering how long they will actually stay with the company, and even Kevin Nash has removed himself politically from their situation. Nash did not push for their return, and is only doing what management has asked of him.
-- TNA and The Young Bucks/Generation Me received legal letters last week. These letters were from Dragon Gate USA, regarding the fact that TNA has pulled the tag team from the WrestleMania weekend shows in Phoenix. DG: USA claims that they entered into a "verbal contract" with the tag team prior to them signing with TNA and that TNA has no rights to supersede that agreement. Reports say that this comes from a phone conversation that Gabe Sapolsky and TNA Director of Talent Terry had weeks ago, which ended with "Sapolsky screaming at Taylor and allegedly getting hung up on." Sapolsky has denied the story.
It also looks as if DG: USA will be pursing legal action against Davey Richards as well. Richards has signed a new contract with ROH, and when that happened, Sapolsky announced that Richards was removed from all future DGUSA and EVOLVE events. Richards had been a top name for DG: USA, and also a partner in EVOLVE with Sapolsky and Sal Hamoui, although he had no financial interest in that company. DG: USA looks to use the same verbal contract stance with Richards as they are using with The Young Bucks, but nothing has been filed at this time. DG: USA is very upset that Richards has backed out of the WestleMania weekend shows. DG: USA also went as far as to "leak emails and texts to different media outlets showing Richards' original explanation to Ring of Honor that he would be choosing to work DGUSA that weekend and that he was being "forced out" of the Phoenix dates. "
There is also talk from DG: USA that Richards had misinformed them of his ROH contract status, and also claimed in interviews that he was not contracted with the company. Richards was set to face BxB Hulk over WrestleMania weekend, and they say that he had assured them that he was on board with the company going forward.
ROH sources are saying that before they signed Richards to a new deal, they agreed to let him work double shots that weekend for both companies. Gabe Sapolsky denied this to PW Insider, but a DG: USA source confirmed that the offer was made to the Japanese office, but shut down. Many feel that Richards was tired of being caught in the middle of the two sides, and that he accepted a new deal with ROH for a slight raise and guarantee of a certain amount of dates.
DG: USA announced both the Bucks and Richards well in advance for the WrestleMania weekend shows as a way to get a jump on ROH in the market, and now will run the shows without the wrestlers. DG: USA feels that the Japanese talents are the main draws, and that they will not be hurt by their leaving. But they are also upset that they guys did not "finish up/do jobs" on the way out.
Many of the ROH and PWG talents feel that the DG: USA are ridiculous, due to their being that this is Independent wrestling and that there are no contracts. Some talents also feel that Gabe Sapolsky wasn't exactly endearing himself to the talents by pursuing legal action.

Three-time WWE Tag Team Champion Joey Mercury is set to return to World Wrestling Entertainment, according to multiple company sources.
Mercury, who has also worked as Joey Matthews, is perhaps best known for his partnership with John Morrison (then Johnny Nitro) as the team MNM, managed by Melina.
After being released from his WWE contract on March 26, 2007, Mercury continued working independents before retiring in 2008, reportedly due to injury issues.
Mercury is tentatively scheduled to rejoin the SmackDown roster.

Helms Sent Home, Beth Phoenix Completely Trashes Chyna
Posted on 02.01.10 by Jason Stone | WWE News |
-- Last night at the Royal Rumble, Beth Phoenix became the second woman ever to compete in the annual 30-"man" battle royal. The Glamazon spoke to WWE.com last night about the experience and had some very harsh words for the first woman to enter the Rumble, former Diva Joanie "Chyna" Laurer. (Chyna pictures)
Phoenix told WWE.com, “Despite Chyna’s accomplishments [in the Rumble]. I eliminated The Great Khali. Seven-foot-three, 420 pounds. No small feat."
She then rips into Chyna, questioning whether she's a man or woman. "I am WWE’s Glamazon. Chyna was WWE’s Ninth Wonder of the World … mostly called so because people wondered whether she was a man or a woman. I often wonder this, myself.”
Phoenix admits that she used to look up to Chyna, but would destroy her today if the two ever fought in the ring.
“Chyna would have had a slight size advantage in her prime but I’ll tell you what Chyna was missing and that was heart ... Chyna got comfortable, she got soft in her position. I’m quite the opposite. I get better and better. In the ring, toe-to-toe with me, Chyna doesn’t compare.”
-- Coming off the heels of his arrest this past Wednesday, Gregory "Hurricane" Helms" was told to stay home this week. He was originally scheduled to participate in tonight's Royal Rumble match.
-- Lucha libre wrestler Super Nova said during a recent interview that reports of him signing with WWE were incorrect and he is waiting for them to call him back. However, it should be noted that reports of him signing with WWE came from him announcing it himself and posing for photos with a WWE contract in hand.

Backstage Edge News, What You Didn't See On Royal Rumble
Posted on 02.01.10 by Jason Stone | WWE News |
-- WWE had the backstage area at Royal Rumble on lockdown last night to prevent and protect the surprise return of Edge from leaking out. Even invited guests who were originally invited backstage were told it was "staff only" last night.
-- After the Royal Rumble PPV went off the air, Edge was in the ring for about another ten minutes with loud "Welcome back" chants coming from the crowd. Gail Kim, Kelly Kelly, Eve Torres & the Bella Twins defeated Jillian Hall, Katie Lee, Natalya, Maryse & Alicia Fox in a dark match that took place prior to the Rumble going live on PPV.
-- We've received numerous emails about problems with the commercial feed for the WWE Royal Rumble PPV, causing problems with the broadcast in bars and other commercial venues. Some DirecTV also subscribers had technical problems.

Gail Kim, Kelly Kelly, Eve Torres & the Bella Twins b.d Jillian Hall, Katie Lee, Natalya, Maryse & Alicia Fox in a dark match prior to the start of tonight’s pay-per-view.
WWE Royal Rumble 2010 Results Report by Sean Hopkins of SEScoops.com
We get the usual video package, this time highlighting the Rumble match and some of the other feuds heading into tonight.
Lots of pyro and Michael Cole welcomes us to the 23rd annual Royal Rumble.
The first match is announced to be the ECW Championship. Christian’s music hits and he makes his way to the ring to a nice pop.
ECW Championship Match: Christian (c) vs. Ezekiel Jackson
They’re doing the three man announce team tonight with Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler and Matt Striker. ECW Championship match opening is no surprise as Christian should get this crowd going against Ezekiel Jackson.
Ezekiel is out second with Regal in tow. Jackson gets next to nothing in the way of a reaction from the crowd.
Both men lock up and Christian is quickly shoved away by Jackson. Christian ducks another lock up attempt, but Jackson is quick to regain the advantage with a belly to back slam. Christian is up and he slaps Jackson across the face. Jackson chases Christian to the outside, but back in the ring, Jackson is caught by surprise with a couple of quick fists, a dropkick, and a springboard plancha from Christian. Christian rolls Jakcson back into the ring, ducks a couple of clotheslines and hits another slap, but Jackson responds with a slam.
Jackson hits Christian with a couple of big blows to the back, and he sends Christian into the corner twice, but Christian comes out and even attempts the killswitch. Jackson fights it off and tries for a gorilla press but Christian fights out, knocks Jackson into the ropes, and stands on his back, choking him. Christian slaps Jackson a third time, but when he goes to the second rope, Jackson pulls his feet out from under him and sends him to the outside. Regal tries to get involved, but the ref sees it and ejects him from the ringside area.
Jackson slams Christian into the steel ring steps and rolls him back into the ring. Jackson goes for the pin but Christian kicks out at two. Jackson wrenches away at Christian’s neck. Jackson picks him up, from a seated position and choke slams him. Jackson hits a delayed vertical suplex, but again it’s only good for two. Jackson bends Christian around the ropes and clubs away at his chest before bringing him back into the ring and working over Christian’s back. Christian comes up with a springboard sunset flip out of nowhere, but Jackson plucks up Christian and plants him with a double hand choke slam. Jackson locks in a camel clutch but Christian fights out.
Christian slaps Jackson three times, but Jackson comes back with a clothesline to the back of the head, that’s good for a two count. Jackson locks in a weird modified full nelson, but Christian is able to get to his feet. Jackson sits Christian on the top rope and he goes for a superplex, but Christian fights out of it, and kicks Jackson in the face, following up with a flying shoulder block.
Christian side steps a charging Jackson, who connects with the turnbuckle. Christian connects with a missile dropkick and he tries for the killswitch, but Jackson fights out again. Christian hits a reverse DDT, and he goes to the top, trying for a splash, but Jackson moves. Jackson connects with a huge lariat, but Christian won’t stay down. Christian tries for the killswitch again, but Jackson counters into a backbreaker, but it’s still only good enough for two. Christian dodges a charging Jackson again, and hits a kick to the face. Christian hits a tornado DDT, but Jackson is still able to kick out.
Christian goes for the killswitch yet again, but Jackson counters out. Christian locks in a sleeper, but Jackson muscles him into powerslam position and slams him into the corner twice, but going for the third, Christian connects with the killswitch out of nowhere. Christian rolls over Jackson, and this one is over.
Winner and STILL ECW Champion: Christian
Teddy Long complements Tiffany on the last match and Cryme Tyme interrupts. Shad says there’s two of them, but there’s only one in the Rumble, and that’s not right. They try to get Teddy to give them two spots so they can both wrestle. Long says he doesn’t think he can do it. Shad says that they’ve coerced someone to give them their spot. Great Khali comes in. JTG says is Khali gives them their spot, he can kiss Tiffany. Singh comes in from the side and says no dice, because apparently they’re keeping it real. Singh makes a joke about ‘Family Matters’ and Khali says something. Long calls Cryme Tyme fools talking about their pants on the ground and everyone starts singing that stupid song. Miz comes in and looks disgusted. He says you might as well be asking Who Let the Dogs Out, but what people will be talking about is Miz winning his first Rumble. Long says he makes the rules, so not only will he wrestle in the Rumble, he’ll be defending his title against MVP, and that match is next. Khali starts singing Who Let the Dogs out.
Randy Orton is shown backstage. Cody Rhodes comes in and says the Legacy has done too much and come too far to let it all slip away. He and Ted believe that he’ll beat Sheamus, and he’ll have his back. Orton thanks him. Rhodes says he wishes he could say the same thing for Dibiase. Rhodes says he hasn’t been the same since his movie came out, and all he’s talking about is winning the Rumble and challenging Orton for the title at WrestleMania. Rhodes says maybe tonight he’ll get it out of his system, but that’s not why he’s here. Rhodes says ‘you can count on me’, and he walks off. Orton looks conflicted.
It was just announced that The Miz will defend the WWE United States Championship at tonight’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view against MVP.
United States Championship Match: The Miz (c) vs. MVP
Miz is out first to a bit of an apathetic reaction from the crowd. MVP makes his way out next to a much warmer reaction.
Miz tries to hide behind the ref at the beginning of the match, but he quickly comes out with a couple of kicks. MVP is quick to come back though with a flying lariat that’s good for a near fall. MVP hits a suplex and floats over into a cover for a one. MVP sends MIz into the corner, but when he follows in he eats a boot. MVP retaliates with a back body drop. Miz tries to leave the ring, but MVP hits a belly to back suplex instead. Miz bails to the floor, but MVP follows him out, hits him, and body slams him into the barricade. MVP rolls Miz back into the ring, but he ends up being kicked out to the apron, and Miz knocks him off into the announce table.
Miz sends MVP back into the ring and he works over MVP with a couple of stomps and a leg drop. Miz backs MVP up into the corner and drives his shoulder into MVP’s midsection before just pounding him down. Miz hits his corner clothesline, and he goes to the top rope, where he hits a double ax handle that’s good for a near fall. Miz locks in a rear chin lock and he takes MVP down to the mat.
MVP eventually fights back up to his feet and out of the submission, and hits Miz with a couple of right hands before launching him in the air and down to the mat. MVP drives Miz’s face into his knee and he hits the ballin’ elbow. MVP tries for the playmaker, but Miz fights it off, only to walk into a Yakuza kick that’s good for a two count. Miz rolls out to the apron and when MVP follows, he gets hung up on the top rope. Miz tries to catch MVP off guard, but MVP retaliates with a pounce.
MVP goes for the Playmaker’s boot but Miz ducks, Miz goes for the SCF, but MVP fights out. MVP catches Miz with a series of roll ups, but Miz continually kicks out. Miz locks in a small package out of nowhere, and he gets the three count.
Winner and STILL US Champion: The Miz
After the match, Miz jaws at MVP, so MVP retaliates with the Playmaker before walking off.
Big Show is shown walking backstage, he walks into Jericho but tries to walk right by. Jericho stops him. Show says Jericho is jealous because he said Miz and him had more chemistry that JeriShow, and that Miz might be a better tag team partner. Jericho says he’s sorry for Big Show, Miz is pretentious and ego-centric, and Show has to see it. Show says he sees it, just like he saw Jericho do it. Jericho says he and Show were the greatest tag team of this generation. He says he can feel the chemistry between he and Show, and if it comes down to he Miz and Show, he knows where Show’s loyalty lies. Show says he throw both of them out. R-Truth comes in and says if Show doesn’t he will. Jericho says he’ll have to get through Big Show first, but Big Show is nowhere to be found.
Orton is shown backstage again, this time he runs into Dibiase who says good luck, and whatever he needs, he’s there. Orton asks where Cody is. Ted says he can’t talk to Cody because he keeps talking about winning the Rumble and taking on Sheamus, and that he’s counting Orton out. Dibiase says he’s there to help. Orton says he’s about to go out and win his title back, and he doesn’t need any help from either member of Legacy.
WWE Championship Match: Sheamus (c) vs. Randy Orton
Sheamus is out to the ring first to a bit of heat from the crowd. We get a little bit of a re-cap, but not the usual hype video that’s brought out for most title matches. Orton is out second to a surprisingly warm reception, but I guess someone has to play the babyface here (even if it is unwillingly).
We get formal ring introductions for this one, so after Orton’s glacially slow entrance, it’s still going to be a bit.
Both men stare each other down at the outset of the match. Sheamus pumps himself up, to the crowds disapproval, this crowd is solidly behind Orton. Orton locks in a headlock, but Sheamus is quick to fight out, but Orton connects with a beautiful dropkick. Orton and Sheamus stare each other down again. Another lock up and Sheamus backs Orton into the ropes, but Orton turns it around. Sheamus shoves Orton, but Orton comes back with a European uppercut, it’s not enough though as Sheamus comes back and works on Orton’s arm.
Orton goes to the outside and Sheamus follows, slamming Orton into the barricade and slamming Orton’s arm into the ring steps. Sheamus sends Orton back into the ring, and continues to work over Orton’s arm, wrenching away. Sheamus picks Orton up into powerslam position, but Orton works out of it and goes for a chop block. Orton immediately goes to work on Sheamus’ knee, stomping away at the leg.
Orton wrenches away at Sheamus’ leg and ankle, making Sheamus squirm. Sheamus tries to kick him off, but Randy just wrenches harder. Sheamus kicks again and this time it’s enough to stop Orton. Sheamus sends Orton shoulder first into the ring post, and then does it again.
Sheamus buries his shoulder in Orton’s midsection twice, but when he goes for a third, Orton gets his knee up. Orton kicks Sheamus in the knee, and goes right back to work, stomping at Sheamus’ wrist. Orton drags Sheamus’ legs to the apron, and slams them down, and then into the ring post. Orton clubs at Sheamus’ chest and Sheamus falls to the floor.”
Orton brings Sheamus back into the ring, and he kicks at Sheamus’ midsection. Sheamus fights back though, and hits a single arm DDT out of nowhere that’s good for a near fall. Sheamus locks in an arm bar and digs his knee into Orton’s ear.
Orton fights out of the submission, getting to his feet and punching Sheamus’ kidney, but Sheamus switches it up, locking Orton’s wrist behind his head. Orton fights out, and he and Sheamus trade punches, with Orton getting yays, and Sheamus getting boos. Sheamus hits a uranage backbreaker on Orton, but it’s not enough for a three count.
Sheamus picks Orton up and he goes for his finisher, but Orton fights out, kicks Sheamus in the knee and sends him to the outside.
Sheamus makes it to the apron at 7, but Orton quickly goes for, and hits his rope assisted DDT. Orton goes for the pin but Sheamus is able to grab the rope and force the ref to stop the count. Orton gets in position for the punt, but Sheamus rolls to the outside to prevent it. Orton gives chase, and he clubs Sheamus with a big European uppercut, but Sheamus sends him into the ring post twice. Sheamus rolls Orton back into the ring, but Cody Rhodes jumps the security rail out of nowhere and he hits Sheamus. Orton connects with the RKO and he goes for the pin, but the ref calls for the bell on account of DQ.
Winner and STILL WWE Champion BY DQ: Sheamus
Rhodes makes his way into the ring to apologize to Orton and the crowd starts to chant ‘RKO’. Rhodes apologizes profusely, but Orton responds with a right hand. Orton slams Rhodes head into the canvas, and Dibiase is out to break it up. Dibiase holds Orton off, but all it gets him is a right hand of his own. Orton tells Rhodes he’s done and he stomps away at him. Sheamus is back on his feet, but Orton is occupied with Legacy, so when he turns around he walks straight into a huge boot from Sheamus.
Sheamus makes his way to the back, Legacy slink away, and Orton is left laid out.
WWE Women’s Championship Match: Michelle McCool (c) vs. Mickie James
Michelle McCool is out to the ring first, without Layla, but she doesn’t get much of a reaction. I don’t know if this crowd is just waiting for the Rumble, or what, but they’re just dead tonight.
McCool gets on the mic, and she says she’s about to give the people what they want to see, her. Her defend her title of course, but apparently Mickie James is nowhere to be seen, because if she was near the arena, no one would be able to miss her. McCool asks the fans if they’ve seen her, then asks if she’s at the hot dog stand again. McCool says it looks like James forfeits, and that’s such a shame because Layla has been making a cake, and they would have shared with her. Layla comes out in the same pig costume from Smackdown. Mickie’s music hits and she charges to the ring. Mickie takes out Layle right off the bat, slammer her head into the ground and sending her into the barricade. James makes her way into the ring, and we’re ready to start.
Mickie hits her DDT, and pins McCool, and this one’s over.
Winner and NEW WWE Women’s Champion: Mickie James
James lays out Layla on top of McCool and the rest of the divas come out with a big cake. James slams the cake into McCool and Layla’s faces and all the divas celebrate.
Rey Mysterio is shown backstage getting ready, this leads us right into the video package hyping the World Heavyweight Championship match.
World Heavyweight Championship Match: Undertaker (c) vs. Rey Mysterio
Rey Mysterio is the first man to the ring, and he gets a warm reception from this crowd, but still not quite as big a pop as I expected.
Gong, big pop, and The Undertaker makes his way to the ring to an even bigger pop from the crowd.
We get formal ring introductions, and this one is ready to go.
Mysterio tries to use his quickness early on, kicking at Taker’s leg, and getting in some quick strikes, but Taker grabs Mysterio by the throat, and simply throws him over the top rope and to the floor.
On his way back into the ring, Mysterio catches Taker with a quick shoulder and some more quick striker, but when he goes for a springboard move, Taker simply punches him in the face and Mysterio crashes to the floor. Taker follows him out and sets him up on the apron, clubbing away at his chest. Taker goes for the leg drop, Mysterio moves but Taker lands on his feet and clubs Mysterio. Taker sets Mysterio up on the bottom rope and hits the leg drop instead.”
Taker goes for a chokeslam, but Mysterio turns it into a hurricarana and he tries for a 619 but Taker catches him. Taker tries for the tombstone, but Rey fights out of it. Mysterio goes for a springboard cross body, but he ends up eating Taker’s boot. Mysterio rolls to the floor and Taker follows.
Taker catches Mysterio with a big blow, another, and a third. Taker breaks the count, and he tries for a big boot, but Mysterio ducks and Taker ends up hung up on the ring post. Mysterio heads back into the ring and connects with a baseball slide to Taker’s leg while it’s still hung up. Taker falls to the floor, and when he gets to his feet, Rey tries for a hurricarana. Taker catches him and tries for the Last Ride, but Mysterio climbs up on the apron and hits an asai moonsault to take down Taker.
Taker gets to his feet and catches Mysterio by the throat before slamming him back into the barricade. Back in the ring Taker goes for the cover but Mysterio is able to kick out. Taker goes to work on Mysterio’s arm, hoisting him up in the air, and slamming him down across the top rope. Taker chokes Mysterio, breaking at a 3 count, and Mysterio crawls to the corner. Taker starts to work over Mysterio with measured blows in the corner.
Taker connects with a side slam, but Mysterio is still able to kick out at two. Mysterio goes to work with a couple of quick kicks, but another right hand puts him right back down on the canvas. Mysterio catches Taker with a jawbreaker, and a low dropkick to the face. Mysterio hits a springboard leg drop, and goes for the cover, but Taker kicks out at two. Taker makes his way to his feet and catches Mysterio with a huge lariat. Taker is bleeding from the nose and mouth pretty bad. Taker goes for the Last Ride, but Mysterio fights out and Taker ends up in the ropes. Mysterio connects with a 619 and a springboard dropkick to the back. Mysterio hits another 619, but when he goes for the springboard senton, Taker catches him and hits a huge stalling Last Ride. He pins Mysterio, and this one is in the books.
Winner and STILL World Heavyweight Champion: The Undertaker
Backstage, HBK is shown watching a monitor. Kane comes in and says his obsession with his brother is unhealthy. Kane says whatever vision Michaels has in his head, in the end, there is no light, only darkness. Hunter enters the dressing room and says he figures that wasn’t a pep talk. Hunter wishes Shawn good luck. Michaels says sorry about last week. HBK says he doesn’t have any right to step on Hunter’s dream of winning tonight and going to WrestleMania. Hunter and Shawn shake hands. Shawn says he and the Undertaker is meant to be though. Hunter says he knows it is, that’s why he knows Michaels will find another way.
We get the same video running down Royal Rumble statistics that they’ve been playing for a while now, though this time it’s updated to include Santino’s new record from last year’s Rumble.
ROYAL RUMBLE MATCH
#1: Dolph Ziggler #2: Evan Bourne
Here we go! The bell rings and we’re ready to start. Ziggler jaws at Bourne and they both eye the WrestleMania sign. Bourne catches Ziggle with a coulpe of kicks and a hurricarana before connecting with a heel kick to Ziggler’s jaw. Ziggler almost knocks Bourne out with a dropkick, but Bourne fights him off and stays in the ring. Bourne launches himself up off of Ziggler and connects with the double knees to Ziggler’s chest. Bourne knocks Ziggler to the apron, but he makes it back into the ring. Ziggler connects with the Zig Zag out of nowhere, and he throws Bourne to the apron, but Bourne kicks Ziggler and comes back in the ring with a Shooting Star Press, the buzzer rings:
#3: CM Punk
Punk goes after both Bourne and Ziggler and he immediately eliminates both. Punk grabs the mic and thanks the crowd for joining him for the most historic moment the Straight Edge Society has seen. 29 other men will either be eliminated or saved.
#4 JTG
JTG goes right to work on CM Punk, but when he charges Punk in the corner, he finds himself eliminated. Punk gets right back on the mic and says not everyone can win the Rumble, just like not everyone can be saved. Not everyone has his dedication. And tonight he’ll be the first straight edge Rumble winner. The clock counts down again and this time it’s the Great Khali.”
#5 Great Khali
Punk tries to save Khali, telling him he can make him greater. Punk says he can see the pain in Khali’s eyes and he needs to be saved. Candice's Regrets?, Former DX Member In Talks With WWE
Posted on 01.30.10 by Jason Stone | WWE News |
– During an interview with InYourHeadOnline.com, BG James (a/k/a Road Dogg) said he recently spoke to WWE officials about returning to the organization, but noted, “it wasn’t meant to be.”
James said he feels he’s too old to keep up with the younger wrestlers, but believes he can contribute behind the scenes. He said his best memories in the industry took place during the Attitude Era, mentioning selling stunners for “Stone Cold” Steve Austin.
– Former WWE Women’s Champion Candice Michelle spoke to www.Candi-Shop.org on a slew of topics including her favorite wrestling matches, whether she will ever return to the industry, what made her decide to enter the Diva Search contest in 2004, her greatest accomplishment, and much more. (Candice Michelle pictures)
The former WWE Diva also made note of her multiple injuries, saying her biggest regret was returning to the ring too quickly from them. However, she wants people to know that she’s not injury prone.
“The biggest frustration of my career has been my lack of responsibility to myself thus resulting in my injuries,” Michelle said.
“Some things are unpredictable in the ring but after one broken collarbone and not a release note from the doctor to get back in the ring, but I did anyways because I was so excited to get back resulting in shattering it and surgery. Then I tried overdoing it on my return and not listening to my body resulting in the two torn ligaments. So to everyone who thinks I’m injury prone, that’s such phony baloney! It would be easy to say that but I’m a big girl and learned to take responsibility for my mistakes. “There’s no mistakes as long as you learn from them!” Needless to say I learned the hard way!”
You can read the interview in its entirety at this link. She also reveals whether she was upset with being released by WWE.

Eric Bischoff Trashes The Honky Tonk Man
Posted on 01.30.10 by Jason Stone | TNA News |
This afternoon during The Bubba the Love Sponge Show, Eric Bischoff shot down The Honky Tonk Man's claim that he was "close to signing with TNA."
"I'd rather drive a rusty ice pick through my eye than work a day with him," Bischoff quipped. "This guy couldn't draw flies if you rolled him in cow sh*t. He's negotiating with himself. No truth to that at all."
Hulk Hogan said he would not mind bringing The Honky Tonk Man to TNA. He joked that HTM trademarked "Linda Hogan" because nobody else did and suggested he work a program with Bubba.
"If we brought him in and we did a program with Bubba, it would mean something," Hogan said.

Wrestling promotion Ring of Honor has filed a lawsuit against Ric Flair, alleging that Flair owes the company over $40,000. The suit was filed this past Thursday in Bucks County, PA.
ROH says that Ric Flair was signed to make five appearances for the company, at $10,000 per appearance. Flair did not make the appearance in Montreal in July of 2009, and failed to repay the $10,000 that was paid to him for the event. Also, the suit alleges that Flair came to terms with the company to appear in an authority figure role on the ROH TV show. Flair was paid $35,000 for the TV appearances and only made one appearance. The second taping is when Flair showed up, and made a brief announcement to the crowd that he was resigning due to his relationship with WWE.
The belief was that Flair was going to use his relationship with ROH so that his son Reid could work there and continue his pro wrestling education. Those plans never happened, due to Reid being arrested on several drug charges last year. At this time, ROH has made no official comment on the deal.

Jeff Hardy Speaks On Jericho-Helms-Matt Hardy Incident
Posted on 01.30.10 by Jason Stone | TNA News |
TNA star Jeff Hardy has commented on the news of Jeff Hardy and Gregory Helms’ getting arrested this week for public intoxication. Hardy wrote on Twitter:
“Sure tmz picked up their mug shot..big deal..their awesome &why should that be second guessed over an extremely simple situation?Love Je …”
He added, “They got arrested…it’s a shame they care or think it makes them look bad..their amazing employees…..&”
Jeff’s girlfriend Beth, who is good friends with Helms and Matt, wrote on Twitter: “WOW! MMH made the TMZ headlines! He’s on the scoreboard now! So hilarious that the story is about nothing…TMZ is in the entertainment business also, keep that in mind. Funny thing is, Matt wasn’t even drinking & didn’t have any involvement. Classic TMZ sensationalism. Actually, I was asked to post that. And, to clarify, he wasn’t DRUNK. Better?”

Recap: Hogan And Bischoff Shoot On The State Of TNA
Posted on 01.29.10 by Jason Stone | TNA News |
Credit: Scott Remington and Pwinsider.com
- Hulk Hogan and Erich Bischoff were on the Bubba The Love Sponge show today, giving their State of TNA Address, here are the highlights…
Q: Confirm or deny Honky Tonk is joining TNA
A: EB "I would rather drive an icepick through my thigh than work with the Honky Tonk Man"
Q: How do you feel about Dixie wanting to go family friendly?
A: Hulk: Not going to happen, we are going to keep pushing the envelope.
Q: Are you going live on March 1?
A: EB: Haven't heard anything, I have just been reading it on the internet.
Hulk: Nothing has been confirmed, it's not a lock. I would like to have it but it's not set yet.
Q: Ongoing talks with Savage?
A: Hulk: "I would love to have him come in and manage his illegitimate son."
Q: Can you tell me the peaking order of how the writing goes:
A: Hulk: Bottom line is that Eric has the final say.
Topic comes up with Vince Russo about the "fake wrestling" twitter post.
· Not really answered just some disparaging words thrown at Russo.
Q: What do they think of Lacey Von Erich?
A: Hogan says she can't work.
EB: "We will teach her how to work", and likes her look.
Q: Are you guys big on Desmond Wolfe?
A: EB: Very high on him, good look.
Hulk says he killed it last night, he's "real close."
Q: What is the Montreal angle really, is it a shot at Vince?
A: EB: It's a shot "kind of", but it's entertaining and as long as they (fans) love it or hate it's about whether they are talking about it. Hang with it and watch where it goes.
Q: WWE has a farm system, are you guys going to be doing something?
A: EB: There is no developmental as such. Brian Knobbs and Saggs have a school they are looking at. "Hopefully we will be able to develop our own but we aren't ready for a farm system".
Name Associations.
Black Pope: Both EB and Hulk love him and he is going to be getting a push.
Abyss: Hulk: My favorite wrestler of all "he's my next John Cena". EB likes him a lot and committed to his character.
Q: Are you interested in taking a look at FCW guys?
Hulk: He says they definitely would be interested.
EB: Says "if they are free we could".
Q: Any WWE talent interested in TNA?
Hulk: Yup.
Q: Sting no showing them.
A: Hulk: Sting's a great talent, wishes he would have come up north for the WWE. He understands why personally he wasn't there but professionally it hurts the company.
EB: "Everyone has to make a commitment. I understand where Hulk's coming from. But if you're not 110% committed then it's probably not going to work out."
Q: Any chance we will see Hogan vs. Flair on TNA PPV.
A: Hulk: Doesn't really answer the question.
Q: Will we see the Australian tour on PPV?
A: EB: Not likely for financial reasons.
Caller: Hulk is the worst wrestler since 1989 and how can you evaluate talent? Stone Cold hates you and won't work a program with you?
- Lots of banter back and forth lots of swearing. Bottom line is they don't answer the question.
Q: Has working with Vince McMahon changed your thought process?
EB: There's no denying he's a great businessman, he's arrogant but he likes him and "I wouldn't hang out with him" but he thinks he's great. On a business level he is very smart. On a creative run he thinks he takes credit for too much and he doesn't think he's that good.
Q: Was there a time when you were going against the Rock and you just thought WCW was going to fail?
A: EB: "When AOL/Time Warner took over and put more hands on our product by making it more family friendly, that's when things starting taking a turn for a worst. Now history is repeating itself and we have a chance to go after that older audience."
Q: Are you going to be signing any more books Hulk?
A: Hulk: Not in the near future.
Q: Richard Ortiz, are you interested in him.
A: EB: I don't know him.
Q: Is there one talent from WWE you both want?
A: Hulk: Orton and Cena. But he would also love the Big Show.
EB: "I have a problem with Show, never been committed, he's lazy. I would like Cena and Orton."
- EB says he never crapped on Jericho, likes him, but doesn't think he can headline.
- Hulk would love to have Chris in TNA.
Q: Why do you feel it's necessary to acknowledge Vince on TNA?
A: EB: You can't win a fight with throwing a punch, "we are going the fight".
Q: If you could wrestle one person in TNA.
A: Hulk: AJ Styles, "if he doesn't get too full of himself".

Torrie Fires A Gun In Her Home, Helms Removed From WWE.com
Posted on 01.28.10 by Jason Stone | WWE News |
-- Torrie Wilson relayed a "funny story" on her Twitter account last night involving a loaded pistol. Wilson said she was alone in her residence and felt scared, so she pulled out a loaded pistol, took the safety off, and fired a shot into her bathroom which went straight through the ceiling. "Crazy and glad [I] didn't kill a dog," Wilson wrote. The former WWE Diva was hospitalized this past October after having a bad reaction to some prescription medication she was taking. (Torrie Wilson pictures)
-- Apparently in response to the negative publicity Gregory Helms' arrest yesterday morning for public intoxication is receiving, the WWE website pulled his "Superstar of the Day" photo this afternoon, replacing The Hurricane with Cody Rhodes. In another note, WWE forgot to remove the hyperlink beneath the photo leading to The Hurricane's bio.

Top WWE Star Contemplating Retirement
Posted on 01.28.10 by Jason Stone | WWE News |
During an interview with the Mexican newspaper Esto, Rey Mysterio said that he was two to three years away from retirement. However, he made sure to note that his future in the industry hinges on the reconstructive knee surgery he is getting in April — providing he lasts that long.
When asked who will be his replacement as the top Mexican star in WWE when he leaves, he mentioned Dos Caras, Jr. (Alberto Banderas ring name), Super Nova (the son of El Texano) and Incognito; all of whom are in WWE's developmental system. However, he said he doesn't see any of them as his replacement "because WWE doesn't work that way."
Mysterio also said that his match at the Royal Rumble would be a three-way bout with Undertaker and Batista — which has since been changed.

TMZ: Helms Attacked Jericho & A Female?, Full Report
Posted on 01.28.10 by Jason Stone | WWE News |
TMZ.com has released some disturbing new details regarding the Wednesday arrest of WWE superstars Chris Jericho and Gregory Helms.
Kentucky police officers say witnesses told them Gregory Helms struck three people, including Jericho, a man named Gary Kelley and a female passenger named Ashley Storer, at a gas station.
Helms then allegedly ran from the scene right after the violent incident but returned after where he and Chris Jericho were arrested for public alcohol intoxication.
Cops say Helms was not arrested for the assault because the alleged victims have not pressed charges. In Kentucky if police do not witness the attack they can't press charges.
The female who Gregory Helms allegedly struck does not want to press charges at this time while the male said he's considering it.

The Latest On Gregory Helms & Chris Jericho's Arrests
Posted on 01.28.10 by Jason Stone | WWE News |
WWE superstars Chris Jericho and Gregory Helms were arrested in Kentucky early Wednesday morning when police were called to a gas station and found the wrestlers "extremely intoxicated" and fighting.
Local newspaper The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that the two were arrested at a Shell gas station around 5:45 a.m. on Wednesday and charged with public alcohol intoxication. After spending about an hour in jail, they were released after each paying $120 fines.
The two had been in nearby Cincinnati, Ohio the previous night for this week's SmackDown taping.
Jericho posted the following message on Twitter hours before the arrest: "Listening to zakk Wylde and having a GG contest with Hurricane. It's the woods vs the praries. Praires are winning..." It's pure speculation, but some are guessing "GG" stands for Grey Goose (vodka).

The Honky Tonk Man Declines WWE Hall Of Fame Induction
Posted on 01.28.10 by Jason Stone | WWE News |
The Honky Tonk Man has posted the following on his website, declining the invitation into the WWE Hall of Fame…
WWE legend "The Honky Tonk Man" has officially declined WWE's offer for the 2010 Hall of Fame & Wrestlemania XXVI. Below is the full story and a blog from the HTM.
"HTM declined the WWE offer to be inducted into the HOF class of 2010. There were multiple reasons why HTM decided against this induction. Negotiations started Friday Jan. 22 and carried over till Wed. Jan. 27 at which time HTM informed WWE that he would not be interested in this years induction into their HOF.
One of the main reasons was a conflict in the schedule. HTM is booked for the Wizard World Comic Con in Toronto for the same date WWE wanted. HTM felt he should stand by his Wizard booking since they had put out publicity on his appearance to be there. Also the Wizard booking has been on his books since early December. WWE had more than enough time to get their date locked in with HTM.
Wizard has HTM booked for 7 events this year and WWE had only 1 event for HTM. HTM would have suffered a serious negative cash flow by taking the WWE booking since they want a "no compete" clause over several months after the HOF. HTM would have been handcuffed with no way to provide income for his family during the "no compete' months. The dollar figure from WWE for the one event was less than HTM could make in one weekend at Wizard World. Therefore HTM decided 7 dates with Wizard would mean 10 times the money WWE was offering and Wizard does not have a "no compete" clause.

Diamond Dallas Page In Talks With TNA
Posted on 01.27.10 by Jason Stone | TNA News |
Add Diamond Dallas Page to the list of wrestling legends that could appear in TNA Wrestling in the coming months.
DDP, who worked for TNA back in 2005, tells Jason Clevett of Slam Wrestling that he’s spoken to Eric Bischoff about coming in for a few appearances:
“Eventually I am sure at some point in time when they need a guest referee I may consider it. I want to do the Piper thing, he shows up for two months and then is gone for nine. That is the only kind of thing I want to do, and I am in the shape to still do it. I probably have ten really good matches left in me, and I am not gonna throw them away or just put them out there. If they are willing to pay me to come back, and it behooves me, maybe.”
Page now focuses on his “Yoga for Real Guys” business and says he’s dropped about 25 pounds since his wrestling days. Since he doesn’t have to carry all that extra muscle, he’s down to a “solid and lean” 230 – with the flexibility of a high school cheerleader:
“I can bend over and put my head between my legs, stick my foot over my head and stand one leg. Most guys can’t walk around on two legs!”

Report: TNA iMPACT! vs. WWE RAW Again On March 1st
Posted on 01.27.10 by Jason Stone | WWE News |

After TNA Monday night special on January 4th drew a strong 1.5 cable rating, it appears Spike TV has scheduled another live TNA broadcast to go head-to-head with WWE RAW.
According to news correspondent Devin Cutting, Spike TV has scheduled a second Monday night TNA Impact episode on March 1 from 9-11p.m. EST head-to-head with WWE Raw.
Comedy duo Cheech & Chong are scheduled to host WWE RAW that night.
TNA originally had an Australian tour scheduled from late Feburary to early March and then rescheduled it due to “changes in the U.S. TV production schedule.”
A report on PWInsider.com states that the TNA iMPACT! taping schedule at Universal Studios in Orlando now lists live events on Monday 3/1 and Tuesday 3/1, so it appears the show will be live once again.

You know what happened on ECW already. Here's what you didn't see from tonight's show. Here's a quick recap. I will send a more detailed report later.
Superstars:
D.H. Smith beat Matt Hardy. Natalya and Khali were at ringside. After the match, Khali cleared house, Royal Rumble style.
Smackdown:
DX came out and cut a promo. Rey Mysterio came out and said that he was going to beat Undertaker at the Rumble so Shawn Michaels was out of luck. CM Punk and his crew came out but before much happened Teddy Long decreed that Punk would would take on HHH tonight while Shawn Michaels would wrestle Mysterio. So, Punk got screwed out of his tag title match.
And.....
He lost to HHH via DQ when the Society attacked HHH. Michaels made the save.
In a brutal No DQ match, Drew McIntyre beat John Morrison.
R-Truth beat Chris Jericho.
Michelle McCool beat Layla, who was wearing a fat suit and called Piggie James.
Mysterio and Michaels didn't get a finish because Batista came in and attacked them. HHH came out to make the save, and Undertaker then appeared and laid out Rey and Shawn.

-- Brady sent this in: Thought this was interesting. Rob Van Dam posted a blog in which he noted that WWE officials locked him out of his WWE Universe page. "The constant rumors that I am or have signed with one of the wrestling companies seems to be getting stronger still," Van Dam wrote. Big Plans For The Rumble & WrestleMania, WM27 Location
Posted on 01.26.10 by Jason Stone | WWE News |
(Credit to PWInsider.com & F4Wonline.com)
-- Although plans can change very quickly in WWE, the idea over the weekend was that Triple H is the favorite to win the Royal Rumble and receive a title match against Sheamus at WrestleMania.
His DX partner Shawn Michaels’ is expected to face Batista at No Way Out to determine who will battle the Undertaker at WrestleMania.
At one point there was talk of Triple H and Shawn Michaels BOTH winning the Royal Rumble (ala Bret Hart and Lex Luger back in 1994), which would have allowed HBK to chose the Undertaker and Hunter to chose Sheamus as their respective WrestleMania opponents. The idea was seemingly dropped after creative came up with the idea of Hunter winning by himself.
Then the big interbrand match at WrestleMania would pit John Cena against Batista.
-- Gary Stokan, President of the Atlanta Sports Council, said this week on The Sports Buffet show that Atlanta and Miami are the two choices for WWE’s WrestleMania in 2011. The announcement will be officially made on February 1st, the day after the Royal Rumble pay-per-view in Atlanta.
If Miami is chosen, Sun Life Stadium, which holds approximately 76,500 fans, would host the event. If Atlanta is chosen, the Georgia Dome which holds 71,000 would host the event.
The 2010 Survivor Series is already set for Miami.

Event: WWE Monday Night RAW Airdate: Monday, January 25th, 2010 (USA Network) Location: The Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio Results by 411 Mania
“Yes, sir, we promised you a great main event…”
-Live from the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, OH
-Hosted by Michael Cole & Jerry "The King" Lawler
D-Generation X vs. Legacy Triple H stops his intro half way through as he realizes Hornswoggle isn't there, and Shawn says he's not here because he sent him home. Shawn says this is serious, and HHH asks if they're going to go over this one more time. Shawn wants to know why HHH doesn't understand the position that he's in. He says HHH knows how much it means to him, and how he wants his shot at Undertaker and how he wants his shot to end the streak. Shawn asks if that's too much to ask, and HHH says yes it is too much to ask. HHH says this is the Rumble, and even though they've been telling jokes for the last six months its Rumble time and it is time to get serious. He says if getting a title shot, and being in the Wrestlemania main event isn't your goal you should get out of the business. He says he knows how much Shawn wants Taker, but he wants the title shot just as bad. He says at the Rumble they can work together and take care of the other 28 guys pretty easy, but in the end it will come down to the two of them. He says they'll always be friends, but if he has to step on Shawn's dream to get to his then that's exactly what he's going to do. Shawn says he understands, and that's that. Rhodes starts things off with HHH, and they trade blows in the corner with HHH getting the better of it. Cody misses a dropkick off the ropes, and HHH goes for a quick pedigree but Dibiase pulls Rhodes outside to save him as we head to break.
We return from the commercial as HHH makes a tag to Shawn who delivers a flying forearm and inverted atomic drop to Cody Rhodes. Shawn delivers a chop to Cody, and knocks Dibiase off the apron before heading to the top rope. Dibiase gives a quick distraction allowing Cody to roll to the floor, but Shawn just reverses course and takes both men out with a crossbody on the floor. Cody gets thrown back inside, but Dibiase grabs Shawn's leg coming in and that allows Cody to delivers a swinging neckbreaker. Dibiase tags in the match and stomps Shawn down in the corner, and then fires Shawn into the top buckle before tagging Cody back inside. Cody delivers a straight right hand for two, and delivers a knee drop for two more. Dibiase tags in and delivers a standing dropkick picking up a two count, and then hits a snap mare. Dibiase hits a running boot to the face for two, and tags in Cody. Rhodes hits a Side Russian Legsweep for two, and locks in a front facelock. Shawn tries to walk Cody to the corner for the tag, but Cody lets Shawn go and knocks HHH from the apron. Shawn hits an inverted atomic drop, but when he goes for the tag there's no HHH. Cody tags in Dibiase who goes for Dream Street, but Shawn counters and goes for Sweet Chin Music. Dibiase partially dodges it, and catches the kick low but Shawn is able to make the tag to HHH. HHH hits a high knee, and delivers a running clothesline in the corner. Facebuster connects by HHH, and Rhodes is in as he eats a spinebuster. Dibiase gets hit with a spinebuster as well, and HHH goes for the Pedigree. Shawn tags himself in, and DX stares down. Rhodes pushes HHH into Shawn, but as Dibiase helps up Rhodes Shawn hits sweet chin music on him. HHH knocks Dibiase from the ring, and Shawn makes the cover for the pin at 10:02. They give a half hearted celebration after the match, and shake hands, but the dissension continues to mount. Winners: D-Generation X (Michaels pins Dibiase-Sweet Chin Music **3/4)
-During the match Cole and Lawler confirmed the earlier reports that James Roday is not there, and Dule Hill will be hosting by himself. That leads to a behind the scenes look at Cena on Psych.
Montel Vontavious Porter vs. The Big Show MVP says there's something he needs to say to The Miz. He says Miz is the US Champions, but the problem is MVP is the number one contender. He says he can continue to hide behind guest hosts, and his new 500 pound defender, but he can't keep running away. Eventually Miz will have to face him for the title, and when he does MVP will be become a three time champion. Miz comes out and says he doesn't even know what "straight up ballin" is. He asks if it is a euphemism for some unspeakable act he picked up behind bars. He finds it shocking that despites MVP's incarceration the people accept him, and they can't stand Miz. He says while MVP was taking mugshots he was a star on multiple reality shows. While MVP was making license plates he was becoming a bigger celebrity than MVP will ever be. He says maybe that's why everyone dislikes him, but MVP interrupts to say people dislike him because he's a jack ass. He says Miz keeps bringing up MVP's time behind bars, but he knows Miz would be very popular in prison. In fact they'd be fighting over the right to be his exclusive friend. Miz gets sick of that, and says he would like nothing more than to have their US Title match right now. MVP asks why he doesn't, but Miz says he has a friend who wants to make a statement. Show attacks MVP early with a headbutt sending him into the corner where Show delivers a brutal chop. Show goes for an avalanche which misses allowing MVP to hit a facebuster. MVP delivers a drive by kick, but a second charge runs into the chokeslam which finishes at 1:01. Well MVP got a nice promo, and then got completely buried. How nice. Winner: The Big Show (Pinfall-Chokeslam DUD)
They announce that Vince McMahon has an announcement on the future of Bret Hart tonight.
-Legacy is in the locker room, and Rhodes says he didn't know where his head was at with Kofi and Cena, but this week he thanks him for sparing him the kick. Dibiase goes to say something, but Orton interrupts and says there's been all this tension between them but now they're on the same page. He says then they go lose to DX, and last week Sheamus attacks him from behind and his backup is in the back fighting. Orton says they need to get it in their heads, because at the Rumble match only one man can win. Between Orton and Sheamus rest assured Orton will win, and he's going to do it with or without them.
-John Cena is in the back talking to Dule Hill, but wants to know where James Roday. Dule says he James had an appendectomy and that's why he's not here. Cena says Dule needs to make this his night and he takes off. Miz then stops by and wants to know why Psych wasted their time with Cena when they could have had him. Miz says he had to google his name to find out who he is, and he's more famous than Dule and his hospitalized co-star. Dule is sick of Miz, so he books him in a match tonight.
WWE Divas Championship Tournament Semi-Finals: Maryse vs. Eve Torres Maryse says the other divas with their little championship dreams their wasting their time. She starts talking in French, when she is interrupted by pyro because Dule Hill is messing with the buttons. Maryse calls him a disrespectful loser, and yells at him some more in French. Okay then. Eve attacks with a series of forearms in the corner, but Maryse answers with a slap. Eve comes right back with a dropkick for two, and then stops a backdrop attempt with a kick. Eve hits a standing senton, but misses a moonsault. Eve counters Maryse's DDT attempt with a northern lights suplex for two, but an attempted Irish Whip is blocked by Maryse. Maryse hits the French Kiss, and that finishes at 2:06. I've seen worse, but not much. Winner: Maryse (Pinfall-French Kiss ¼*)
Vince McMahon is up next!
-Mr. McMahon is out, and he says if Undertaker were here tonight he would look him square in the eye and dare him to call him a coward. He said his own son-in-law HHH said that if he didn't bring Bret Hart back some of the fans might even consider him a coward. Vince says there's not one good reason why he should bring Bret Hart back. He says economics 101 says you buy low and sell high, and he sold Bret to WCW when he was at his height and he was never seen or heard from again. He says we all forgot about Bret Hart until Shawn mentioned him, and Vince then asks if we want Bret Hart back. The crowd of course responds in the affirmative, and Vince tells them to listen to this announcement. He says Bret will never again appear in the WWE. He says he's a businessman, and he knows what's right for business. When the crowd boos he asks if they think they know more than he is. He says the arena must be full of billionaires, and he then decides if they're so smart he's going talk to them. He walks through the crowd and asks the crowd if they think he's afraid of Bret. Of course the rednecks in the audience do nothing to help the overall opinion of the average wrestling fan, and Vince gets back in the ring and says there is no good reason to bring Bret back because he is a part of the past. Vince says he's concerned with the present, and the future, not concerned with someone who is just a footnote of the past. Vince thanks them for their consideration and kindness, but he's interrupted by John Cena. Vince says if Cena is out here to change his mind he shouldn't even think about it. Cena says he knows where Vince stands, and he never had a problem with Vince until recently. He says Vince said Bret was a used up piece of gum who can be chewed up and thrown away, and at MSG he treated Roddy Piper like a washed up piece of crap. He tells Vince he had a lot of help building his empire. People like Piper and Hart, and the problem with Vince is that he gets this idea in his head that WWE Superstars are nothing more than commodities and when they hit their expiration date they're gone. He asks if that's what he thinks of people like Shawn, Vince, and Cena himself. He says the reason people don't respect Vince is because he only cares of lining his pockets and serving his ego. He says he brought Bret Hart back only so the last thing people would see was Vince kicking him in the gut. Cena says Vince isn't a coward, but he's just pathetic. Cena says next week Vince is going to have Bret on Raw, because Bret deserves to be there. He says if he doesn't then on Vince's 90th birthday Cena is going to find him, and pick him up out of his wheel chair and knock his false teeth right down his throat. Because he will have proved that everyone who worked for him what they already knew. Vince says he's not a coward, and he will invite Bret Hart back to Raw next week and he won't even flinch. Vince says since Cena wants to make such an impact tonight, he's going to put him in a match with Sheamus.
The Miz vs. Kofi Kingston Kofi hits an armdrag into an armbar, but Miz hammers out sending Kofi to the ropes. Kofi hits a crossbody for two, but a second attempt meets the boot of Miz for a two count. Miz drives a knee into the lower back of Kofi, and grabs a rear chinlock. Miz fires Kofi back to the mat, and delivers a running boot to the face for two. Miz hits a running boot to the ribs, and stomps Kofi in the face before delivering a legdrop. Miz goes back to the chinlock, but Kofi is able to strike his way free. Miz whips Kofi to the corner, but runs into a bicycle kick as Kofi heads to the top. Kofi delivers a splash off the top, but misses a jumping clothesline and Miz hits a neckbreaker-backbreaker combo for two. MVP's music hits, but he doesn't come out. The distraction allows Kofi to hit Trouble in Paradise however and that picks up the win at 3:38. MVP wanders out and stares down Miz from the ramp. Kofi went from feuding with Orton to playing third wheel in a mid card feud. Too bad. Winner: Kofi Kingston (Pinfall-Trouble in Paradise *1/2)
-Carlito takes Dule Hill on a tour of the WWE Production truck. Dule wants to know what all the buttons do, and he tells them it brings up the graphic page. Carlito says Dule should put him in a title match, but Dule has a better idea. He's going to punch in a random code, and whoever comes up will face Carlito next. Dule punches in the numbers, and the lucky winner is…Kelly Kelly? Carlito likes the sound of that, and hustles off to the ring.
Carlito vs. Kelly Kelly Carlito is out in street clothes, and Kelly comes out scared half to death. Santino comes out, and tells Kelly not to take another step. He says he has the Best of Raw 2009 DVD in his hand, and he looks like a "stupido" several times. He says he's going to do something spectacular in 2010, and take Kelly's place. Then he'll go to the Royal Rumble and pull off the shocker of the year by winning and going to Wrestlemania. Santino heads to the ring, but he's attacked by Jack Swagger who fires Santino inside only to throw him over the top rope. Swagger drives Santino face first into the ringpost, and does push ups on the floor over him. So I guess this means we're robbed of the sure to be epic Kelly Kelly-Carlito bout? No Match
-Recycled Royal Rumble stat package that airs every year is shown. This is always cool.
-Cena meets back up with Dule Hill, and he thinks that one thing could make tonight better. Cena has James Roday on speaker phone, and he wants us to let Sheamus know that The Berzerker and Carrot Top called and they want their love child back. Alicia Fox stops by, and she said she hears that Dule is a psychic. She wants him to predict what is going to happen in her match tonight with Gail Kim. He says he sees a Fox standing victorious inside a ring. He lets her know that he'll be with her as her good luck charm. She tells him he better be right, and Dule wants to know what that means. Cena theorizes it could mean any number of things. A Tecmo Super Bowl tournament, keg stands at the ice cream machine at Golden Corral, or most likely she's going to have Mark Henry remove his appendix the hard way.
WWE Diva's Championship Tournament Semifinals-Gail Kim vs. Alicia Fox Gail gets the jobber entrance for this one. Alicia hits the ropes and delivers a shoulder block, but Gail comes back with a monkeyflip. Gail armdrags Alicia back inside, but Alicia fires her into the top buckle. Alicia hits a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker for two, and then whips Gail into the corner. Alicia misses a running kick, and Gail hits a powerslam for two. Alicia comes back with a small package for two, but Gail answers with a spin kick. Gail counters a running powerslam sliding down the back, and hitting her falling big boot for the win at 1:56. This was worse than the first one. Afterward Alicia gets in Dule's face, but he tries to suck up and said it was a misunderstanding. She is not amused, and smacks him. Winner: Gail Kim (Pinfall-Falling Big Boot DUD)
Main event is next!! Sheamus vs. John Cena, non title match.
Sheamus vs. John Cena
Back from commercial and out comes the WWE Champion Sheamus for this non-title match. Out next comes John Cena to a big pop. The match starts and they lock up and go to the corner after testing each other for a minute. Sheamus breaks the hold and shows off some. Cena takes Sheamus back to the corner and the ref breaks it up. Cena shows off now. Sheamus charges but Cena fights back with right hands and hits the bulldog for a 2 count.
Sheamus takes control and backs Cena in the corner. Sheamus beats Cena down with a bunch of kicks. Cena catches Sheamus with a suplex for 2. They come off the ropes and Sheamus drops Cena with a clothesline. Sheamus with another pin attempt. Sheamus controls the match now, dropping Cena with rights. Sheamus launches Cena into the opposite corner and covers for another 2 count.
Sheamus gets Cena on the apron and hits a running knee to the face, knocking Cena out to the floor. Sheamus goes for another but Cena counters and goes for the Attitude Adjustment. Sheamus counters that with a DDT for a 2 count. Sheamus hits a big powerslam for another 2 count. Cena goes for the STF but Sheamus counters and kicks Cena out of the ring. Sheamus comes to the floor and throws Cena into the steel steps. The referee begins his count and Cena comes back in at the 9 count. Cena counters a move and hits the shoulder blocks off the ropes and back drop. Cena hits the Five Knuckle Shuffle. Sheamus counters the Attitude Adjustment with a knee to the back and a 2 count. Sheamus goes for the big axe kick but Cena counters it with the STF. Sheamus reaches the rope and breaks the hold. Cena comes out to the floor after Sheamus but gets kicked in the face with Sheamus' big kick. Cena is laid out again as the referee counts.
Out of nowhere, Randy Orton rushes the ring and lays Sheamus out with the RKO. Orton gets down and taunts Sheamus as the referee calls for the bell. Cena comes up to the ropes and Orton grabs him. Orton goes for the DDT off the ropes but Cena counters with the Attitude Adjustment, laying Orton out.
Winner: Sheamus by DQ
- Cena celebrates in the ring with Orton and Sheamus still laid out. RAW goes off the air.

The Rock Says He Would Rip Up WWE & Bring Back 'Attitude'
Posted on 01.25.10 by Jason Stone | WWE News |
During an interview with Live Audio Wrestling last night, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson said he would return to WWE for a guest-hosting role or to wrestle a match on the sole condition that he can “rip up” the writing for the current television product and tap into the “Attitude Era” with an edgier product.
“I want to use the platform as a host to literally rip things open. There’s so much stuff we can do,” Johnson told John Pollock. “We’re going to create an incredible show, an incredible Raw. I’m doing another movie, but after that, we’re going to create something special, unique, something badass for the fans. Talking to Vince (McMahon), whenever that’s going to be, we’re going to have a great time.”
Johnson echoed what he said last week during an interview with ESPN in that he wouldn’t rule out actually wrestling, but only if he can turn the product upside down and create a compelling storyline leading to a match.
“I accomplished everything I wanted to accomplish in wrestling, so I wouldn’t rule out going back,” Johnson said. “If the match was right and we could create something really unique and cool for the fans and for my opponent and for the company, I would do it in a second.”
Johnson once again said he has no interest in wrestling John Cena, but talked about what it would take for him to work a program with one of WWE’s premiere stars.
“I’ve never been interested in wrestling John Cena. The guys I wrestled in the past – from Goldberg to Hogan to Austin – were guys who I’ve really wanted to wrestle. If it can be done creatively but not only that, it’s very important if I do back that the writing has to be ripped up and really be pushed,” Johnson said. “I came from a time in the Attitude era where we trail-blazed a lot and were fearless in the things we said and did.”

AJ Styles Speaks On WWE Backstage, 4-Sided Ring, Mondays
Posted on 01.25.10 by Jason Stone | TNA News |
In an interview with The Sun, TNA World Heavyweight Champion AJ Styles blasts the backstabbing nature of rival promotion World Wrestling Entertainment.
The TNA star said he has no interest in going to WWE based on second-hand stories he's heard from wrestlers' experiences in the politically-motivated backstage environment.
"From all the horror stories I've heard in WWE, there's no reason why I would want to go anywhere else. Desmond (Wolfe) and I are going to work together to make this company the best for everybody. Where, in the other company, they will stab each other in the back to get to the next level," Styles said. "It's not about me. It's about us in TNA."
Styles said one year from now, TNA needs to be live and touring "week-to-week" outside the Impact Zone in Orlando. His main reason for wanting to venture outside of Orlando is so he can better gauge the effectiveness of his persona.
"Definitely live. Live every Monday night or Thursday night. I don't care. Just as long as the fans know when it's coming on. And that they don't know what to expect," Styles told The Sun. "That's the biggest thing because with the spoilers, they go on (the Internet) and figure out whatever, but I want to be live going from state-to-state and not just in the Impact Zone."
Styles added: "It's hard to gauge who you are as a character in the Impact Zone because you have the same fans coming in who don't necessarily want to enjoy the show, but be part of the show, and it's hard to gauge how you're doing as an entertainer."
Styles also reassured fans upset about TNA parting ways with its trademark six-sided ring.
"Ring change is kind of upsetting at first, but then once you get in that ring, it brings the memories back - 'Oh, there's so much more you can do.' But, for us, it absolutely does not make a difference to me. That's why it was so bizarre to me at first why they would change it," Styles said. "I heard that maybe the reason was to be taken more seriously as a company. I can understand that. I don't care what it is that gets us to the next level as long as we get there."

Rey Mysterio Incident With Fans, WWE vs. NFL
Posted on 01.25.10 by Jason Stone | WWE News |
-- There were some issues at a Rey Mysterio autograph signing at a KMart in Chicago. People who purchased $35 of merchandise could get an autograph with Mysterio, but Mysterio arrived late and then had to leave for a show with lots of people still in line. Things got out of hand as he was leaving with people rushing at him. A lot of people who didn't get autographs then asked for refunds on their purchases.
-- The WWE made the right choice in moving the Royal Rumble PPV to next weekend. Last night's NFC Championship game between the New Orleans Saints and the Minnesota Vikings averaged 57.9 million viewers, which made it the second most watched NFC Championship game of all time. The Royal Rumble was initially set for last night, but moved to next weekend.

Michaels Says DX Will “Probably Disband” After Royal Rumble
Posted on 01.25.10 by Jason Stone | WWE News |
It would appear that the latest D-Generation X run is coming to an end as Shawn Michaels said during an interview with the KISS-FM radio station out of San Antonio this past week that DX will “probably disband” following the Royal Rumble so they can focus on their respective matches at WrestleMania.
When asked if he had any plans on retiring, Michaels said: “Well, that’s always the million dollar question. I’d like to go on record as saying I have been trying to retire for the last three years… [WWE] makes it very difficult, you know, Vince McMahon is nuts. I try to walk away then WrestleMania comes up, they put me in a match, I do well, and [Vince] doesn’t make it very easy.”
Also it would appear that he had zero input in selecting matches for WWE’s upcoming DVD release on him, Shawn Michaels: My Journey. He responded with the following: “They found my 25 greatest matches?”
It had been rumored that Michaels would handpick his favorite twenty-five matches of his career for the DVD release.

Big Show’s WWE Film Pushed Back In Favor Of Cena Drama
Posted on 01.25.10 by Jason Stone | WWE News |
Big Show’s Knucklehead was tentatively scheduled for the theatrical release date of Friday, April 23, 2010, but is now been pushed back to the fall in favor of the John Cena drama film Brother’s Keeper.
Filming for Brother’s Keeper wrapped us just last week in New Orleans while Knucklehead finished in November, reports Variety Magazine. Current plans call for Brother’s Keeper to be released theatrically this summer, thus pushing Big Show’s comedy movie to the fall.
WWE Studios recently reached an agreement with Samuel Goldwyn Films to oversee it’s theatrical releases, and Vivendi Entertainment to handle the home video releases. As part of the agreement, World Wrestling Entertainment has agreed to produce nine movies through 2012.
Future releases include Big Red starring Randy Orton, a thriller written for Batista, and the comedy Midnight Run with John Cena.

Bret Hart-RAW Update, The Rock's Movie Numbers, & More
Posted on 01.24.10 by Jason Stone | WWE News |
-- Although he was originally scheduled to make an appearance on RAW this past Monday night in Knoxville, WWE decided to move Bret Hart's return to a week later for this Monday (January 25) in Columbus, OH. It is still possible they could change their minds again between now and Monday, but that was the plan as of a few days ago. If he doesn't appear on RAW this Monday then an appearance at the Royal Rumble PPV would be likely.
-- The Tooth Fairy debuted #4 at the box office, earning $14.5 million. The film had a budget of $48 million. Avatar remained #1 at the box office this weekend, earning $36 million and raising its six week total to $552.7 million.
-- It appears Canada and the Chicago market have lost WWE Superstars in a decision to pull the shows by WGN. The local WGN station in Chicago had been airing the show on Sunday mornings, but a decision was made to drop it and push it exclusively over to WGN America. WGN America doesn't air in Canada since they used the Chicago feed.
-- WWE recently sent out an internal memo regarding talent being scheduled for interviews as they are trying to crack down on wrestling publications getting interviews with WWE stars. They reportedly don't want interviewers knowing "too much about the subject" since they will start to ask uncomfortable questions.

Kelly Kelly Speaks On The Death Of Andrew "Test" Martin
Posted on 01.24.10 by Jason Stone | WWE News |
WWE Diva Kelly Kelly spoke to the UK’s Daily Star this week about the untimely death of her ex-boyfriend, former WWE & TNA star Andrew “Test” Martin. (Kelly Kelly pictures)
“Not a day goes by when I don’t think about Andrew. … He was a big part of my life, we were together for two-and-a-half years. When I first started, Andrew looked after me. We were there together, we had some good times and some hard times – he wanted more than anything to be healthy,”
Andrew Martin, who Kelly Kelly calls the “love of her life,” died back in March 2009 prescription pill overdose after a long battle with addiction.
Kelly Kelly is dedicating the remainder of her wrestling career to Andrew MArtin and vows to become a respected in-ring worker. She explains that even though women wrestlers aren’t having “25 minute matches” like the men, the Divas are still on the road upto 300 days a year and live the same hectic lifestyle.
“We’re on the road for the same amount of time as the guys, I know we don’t have to wrestle 25-minute matches like the guys but we travel 200 to 300 miles a night exactly the same as them. But this is my life – I’ve been doing it since I was 18 so by now I’m used to it! I’m young and I have no plans to settle down!”

The Rock Speaks On His Favorite Match, Boogeyman, Torrie
Posted on 01.23.10 by Jason Stone | WWE News |
– Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is featured on YouTube’s Celebrity Playlists page, which has the former WWE Champion making note of his favorite videos on the website, including wrestling matches. He urges fans to check out videos of his father Rocky Johnson and Tony Atlas taking on the Wild Samoans, as well as Jimmy Snuka’s iconic cage match with Don Muraco in 1983. You can view the clip at this link.
– The Rock also recently appeared on ESPN, where he faced off with Jonathan Coachman and talked wrestling, as well as his new movie. Check it out at this link.
– Speaking of Johnson, his latest family feature film, Tooth Fairy, opens today in an estimated 3,344 theaters. Originally scheduled for release on November 13, 2009, it was moved to mid-January to avoid competition with 20th Century Fox’s other film, Fantastic Mr. Fox. Those within the movie industry predict it will open with around $18.0 million this weekend at the box office, which is what Johnson’s movies typically do.
– You can check out both new and old hot Torrie Wilson pictures at this link.
– Marty Wright, who performed as The Boogeyman in World Wrestling Entertainment, is now accepting independent bookings under his new persona, “The Night Crawler.” He is accepting bookings for personal appearances, autograph signings, and wrestling matches through Bill Behrens at showbis@aol.com.

Backstage Trouble w/ Beer Money, Lethal Storyline, Jarrett
Posted on 01.23.10 by Jason Stone | TNA News |
– BG James was back working as an agent this past week at television as he was filling in for Scott D’Amore. The word backstage is that D’Amore was unable to attend this week’s tapings due to shoulder surgery. James was called in as a replacement, though he only worked Monday. D’Amore is the primary agent in charge of the Knockouts division.
– This week’s iMPACT! broadcast featured “controversial” audio from Jeff Jarrett’s appearance on The Bubba the Love Sponge Show on Sirius/XM radio. In case you missed this “worked-shoot” angle, you can catch it at this link.
– Beer Money, Inc. — James Storm and Robert Roode — have been expressing their frustration to people backstage after they received word that TNA creative director Vince Russo said he didn’t see them as top stars. Actually, Russo said that they were expendable, but the Pro Wrestling Torch notes that he may have been trying to send the outspoken Storm a message.
Storm was said to be very upset with Beer Money, Inc.’s limited role on the live Monday Night iMPACT! on Jan. 4. In one scene, they were shown shaking hands with Ric Flair upon his arrival to the Impact! Zone. Later that night, they were shown selling a beat down from an unidentified assailant.
It should be noted that there is no noticeable friction between the duo and Russo as observers say they get along fine backstage. (source: www.pwtorch.com)
– The storyline of Jay Lethal losing to wrestling stars of yesteryear was supposed to lead to the young grappler dropping the “Black Machismo” persona. At this time, however, Lethal remains situated in a state of limbo as there’s no telling whether the angle will be continued now that Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff are in charge.
– TNA has released “Pope” sunglasses at this link.
– The Nasty Boys made their much anticipated return to the squared circle last night on iMPACT!, defeating Eric Young and Kevin Nash. Before last night, The Nasties had not tagged together on national television in over thirteen years — since the December 9, 1996 episode of WCW Monday Nitro.

This Week's iMPACT Rating, Nash Unhappy Backstage, UK
Posted on 01.23.10 by Jason Stone | TNA News |
– Last night’s episode of TNA iMPACT! drew a 1.3 cable rating (rounded up from 1.26), the same number as last week. The show drew 1.9 million viewers overall. The opening quarter hour with Hulk Hogan, Kurt Angle, AJ Styles & Ric Flair and final two quarter hours tied for the highest rated segment of the night with a 1.32.
– Besides Awesome Kong, both Alex Shelley and Bobby Lashley are not going on TNA’s tour of the UK. Shelley will not be going on the tour due to ongoing disc injuries. Likewise, Lashley isn’t going because he’s fighting for the mixed martials arts promotion Strikeforce next weekend.
– Kevin Nash is said to be unhappy with “The Band” nickname TNA bestowed upon him, Scott Hall and Sean Waltman. They used the old Blue Brothers movie joke about putting “the band back together” several years ago in World Championship Wrestling, but Nash now feels it’s ridiculously dated.

Backstage News On Hogan & Bischoff, Daniels/6-Sided Ring

-- Both Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff were on hand for all four of TNA's television tapings this week in Orlando. While Hogan has his own dressing room, he made an effort to mingle with the rest of the talent backstage. Meanwhile, Bischoff was more involved in backstage production. There had been some skepticism as to whether Hogan and Bischoff would care enough to attend four consecutive shows, but they have.
Jason Hervey of Wonder Years fame has also been regularly backstage since Bischoff became involved with the company. Hervey and Bischoff have been business partners for a few years now, working on some hit VH1 reality shows together.

Hall Getting A Backstage Job In TNA?, The Band's Future
Posted on 01.22.10 by Jason Stone | TNA News |
More than one source within TNA is claiming that the roster enjoys having Scott Hall around, despite the problems he’s caused for company management. Hall has a reputation for being very generous with his knowledge when talking with younger wrestlers, and there has been serious talk of testing the waters with Hall as an agent. One main event-level TNA star has been very vocal about Hall being qualified for the job, citing his creative input during his WWF and WCW days.
For those unaware, the road agent’s job is to work with the roster in setting up matches and storylines, and relaying instructions to them from the creative team. Road agents in WWE and TNA are usually retired wrestlers, such as Arn Anderson, Terry Taylor, Ricky Steamboat and Jerry Brisco.
With reports coming out after TNA’s Genesis PPV that Hall and Sean Waltman are both relying heavily on pain pills, the duo’s future as on-screen talent in TNA is still up in the air.

Matt Morgan Says He Almost Cried On-Camera At Genesis
Posted on 01.21.10 by Jason Stone | TNA News |
TNA wrestler Matt Morgan covered a number of TNA subjects in an interview with Jim Varsallone of the Miami Herald following this week's marathon PPV/TV tapings in Orlando, Fla. The following are key highlights.
-- Morgan said he nearly broke down crying on-camera following his TNA tag title victory with Hernandez at the Genesis PPV because his father was recently diagnosed with brain cancer. Morgan said his father "waited eight long years to see me win a title" and he's not in good shape right now.
Morgan said he was in a fragile state of mind going into the PPV. "I'm still a team player, and I'm thinking I don't want to ruin the pay-per-view by breaking down. They said, 'You're not going to ruin it. That's who you are. That's emotion we can't write for you, Matt. So if you do it, you do it. If you don't, you don't.'"
-- Morgan said some wrestlers have advised him to jump to WWE while he's hot as a big man in the wrestling business who recently main-evented TNA PPVs. Morgan said he won't because he's loyal to TNA and president Dixie Carter.
"People that think they know what's best for my career, like I don't, apparently, will beg and plead with me to go back to WWE. They think I'm crazy for not doing it and why wouldn't I do it especially right now while I'm hot," Morgan said. "Well, it's because of things like that, what Dixie Carter did for me. Physically, I would run through that wall for her, if she told me to. I really would. You can't put a price tag on that. You can not. I'm so emotionally invested. She's a good person."
-- Morgan said he was initially concerned about being teamed with Hernandez on TV after his singles push, but he believes TNA is building toward a "money match" down the road when they inevitably split apart.
"When I was told I was teaming with Herandez, I said, 'Okay, where are we going with this?'" Morgan said. "We have a lot of similarities. We are both big strong guys who are athletic. We do a lot of finesse moves, plus power moves. ... One day that's a money match. That's a Bound for Glory, Super Bowl type match. We're both competitors. The athlete in me looks forward to it, and same with him, and that's why I like him. That's why we're friends, but right now, we are the tag team champs, and that's are focus."
-- Morgan stated his opinion that Hulk Hogan was "one of the most over big man babyfaces" of all-time in wrestling and he wants to learn from Hogan in order to one day handle the pressure of being a headline star carrying a company.
"If you don't want to pick Hulk Hogan's brain, you really need to have your head examined and quit the business now because you just don't want to be a headline star," Morgan said. "You just don't. You don't want the pressure of the company on your shoulders. Otherwise you'd be picking his brain because no one's ever had a company on his shoulders more than him."

Transcript: Hogan & Bubba Talk About Awesome Kong Fight
Posted on 01.21.10 by Jason Stone | TNA News |
Hulk Hogan appeared on The Bubba The Love Sponge radio show Tuesday morning and discussed the shock jock’s altercation with Awesome Kong the previous day. Courtesy of www.angrymarks.com, here is a transcript of the discussion:
BUBBA: She was wearing wrestling gear, and she came in on me and sucker punched me right on my left cheek, and I was like, what’s going on… then she came out me again, hit me again in the mouth, and she goes, “This if for Haiti! This is for Haiti!” and I’m like “What is going on?” Then she hits me again… Finally I put my left hand out and push her away from me, and she comes at me again and I just cover up, because I cannot fight back on a woman. Not only will I be fired from TNA, which I probably am, but my radio career is gone if I take a woman out!
HOGAN: I tell you what, though, after what happened, if you had clocked her you’d have got away with it.
BUBBA: Maybe on the streets I’d have gotten away with it, but, how would the media have spun that had I clocked her?
HOGAN: What nobody knows, and this is the real truth, that there were certain people there, y’know, and of course they have to run it by me and Dixie… she should get off the property, she should be fired immediately, that’s it. It was so violent. You could have actually lost an eye, you could have had your teeth knocked out. But, to give you your creedo, you are the one who said no, don’t fire her.
BUBBA: No, I don’t want you to fire her.
MANSON: Now, I’m confused. Does Hogan think that this is a funny incident?
BUBBA: No, no he’s not. He knows how serious it is. He was being a dick earlier… but I don’t think he agrees with it. And, you know what, they said we were going to fire her and I said no, don’t fire her. Now, if she’s done other stuff, I can’t help what happens to her on other situations, but don’t fire her for sucker punching me, I don’t want to cost anybody their job.
HOGAN: I think this is really just the beginning of a match made in heaven.
BUBBA: No, that’s fine… that’s fine. But I tell you one thing, Hogan. If you… you better not call it pro wrestling, you might as well put the cage up and make it MMA because I will not work, I promise you that. You’re not going to embarrass me like that, and be that much of a loose cannon in this industry…
MANSON: Oh now you’re gonna kick her ass? I don’t think you want a piece of her in the cage.
BUBBA: Let me ask you, you’re the only person who has a cool head. Had I defended myself, and not covered up, and just blocked what the remaining of what she put in. Had I actually fought her, and done well, what would I be facing right now?
HOGAN: Well, first off, you’d have killed her. She’s real good at throwing a sucker punch, but the way she was swinging at you, and everything, you could have shot right between her arms and knocked her out. It wouldn’t have been cool, y’know, there would be all kind of heat… You did the right thing, y’know, because you did not hit her back, and she was swinging wild and she’s out of her mind… you did the right thing, but at the end of the day it comes back to you and me hanging out together. You know you’re going to get heat, I told you this a long time ago. BUT, don’t put this one on me, because you stirred that up.
BUBBA: How did I? I’m not putting this on you, but you lead by example… I’m gonna be honest, man, nobody there likes me. And they think, hold on, Hogan, they think I’m in there… I’m not a wrestler, I’m not going to take anybody’s job, I’m not gonna take anybody’s backstage announcing gig. I’m there to help you and try to get the TNA product going and working. I’m not a boss, I’m not a agent, I’m not nothing there and everybody… a lot of the old dudes, but AJ Styles gives me dirty looks…
HOGAN: Well the word I got on the street last night was that Russo stirred this up, and Russo put her up to it.
BUBBA: I don’t agree with that.
HOGAN: It’s true! I heard it!
MANSON: Now, did she give you a finishing move, because she’s known for a body avalanche, a gorilla press slam…
BUBBA: No, no…
HOGAN: She shoulda pushed Bubba over her head, splashed Bubba, and then just bounced off the wall and done two or three belly splashes…
MANSON: Awesome Kong, she’s so awesome…
BUBBA: Wait until my lawyers call Dixie up today.
HOGAN: I just think you should get there early today, and just like she sucker punched you, I think because Russo set this up, you should just knock his assout.
BUBBA: Well, I dunno… I don’t think Russo did this…
HOGAN: He did it, I’m telling you as your friend! I wouldn’t lie to you!
BUBBA: Hogan, I love you to death, but you’re the biggest worker… hold on. You’re taking something that really did happen and trying to make it an angle And the bottom line is, y’know what? All the wrestling sheets, you should know this is real because I didn’t talk about it, and I was upset so bad last night. Hogan, I mean, God, Dixie cannot want to deal with all this Bubba drama…
HOGAN: No, this is just your chance to even the score, straighten this out. You just go right up to Russo when he’s not looking and you just sucker punch him like she sucker punched you.
BUBBA: It will be more of a fight between Russo and I, he’s a pretty big dude, than me and Kong, but that isn’t going to be fair.
HOGAN: You can beat Russo up! Especially if you sucker punch him!
BUBBA: Manson, let me tell you about this Awesome Kong chick. She put three of them on my right cheek that you wouldn’t believe. If you look at my forearms they’re all scratched up. And she’s all, like it’s Braveheart, “HAAAITIII! HAAAIIITI!” And I’m like what… and there’s a woman named Mandy who saw it all… and then she took a glass container and threw it down.
MANSON: That’s why a camera should be on you at all times. That’s priceless footage.
HOGAN: I thought it was great!
BUBBA: But, hey, Hogan, what you don’t realize that they have “eyes in the sky” there, did you know that? They have … that whole entire building has surveillance on it. I’m gonna go get that tape.
HOGAN: Well I can’t wait to see it because I can’t believe how quick she dropped your ass!
BUBBA: She happened to meet me right there, where you guys… just outside the door, you know where it happened, right? I was going to go talk to Val Venis about something, I was heading to Catering, and she met me just down that hallway a little bit before you go down to Eric’s office. She was by herself and she was coming to find me. Just minutes before that, I was in that little office area where you and Eric did that shoot, talking to Hall and Nash and Sixx-Pac. So she was coming to find me, regardless where I was. And what if she had done it right there? She’d have got an ass-whipping by the boys!
HOGAN: By the boys? There’d have been nobody around. The only reason you covered up is because everybody was watching, and you knew you had to behave. I think if you had been by herself you would have counter clocked her ass.
BUBBA: Yeah, but she happened to catch me kinda in a dead area. What if we were shooting and she came in and did that, I mean, she was going to find me regardless of where I was.
HOGAN: Oh, yeah, she was on the hunt! I’ve been around this business for a long time, and I’ve seen Dirty Dan Spivey just destroy Adrian Adonis to the point where we had to stop that. I’ve seen Paul Orndorff, naked, with a pair of shower shoes, kick Vader’s head in. But, without a doubt, when she hit you in your mouth, I thought she broke your jaw, I thought that was one of the hardest sucker punches I’ve ever seen thrown in this business, where it connected.
BUBBA: But it didn’t drop me!
HOGAN: All joking aside, I’m really proud of you for not knocking her out, bro, because that wouldn’t be cool.
BUBBA: I’m gonna be honest with you, Hogan. After her third punch to me, in my mind I’m like, do I take her down with a double-leg, and then just pummel her. Or do I try to bring my right around… and in my head in the quarter-second I had to think about I was like, “You’re done, you’re over! You’ll be off the radio!” Women’s right will get you, look what happened when I barbecued a hog…
HOGAN: If you had hit her, you might have killed her. I’m serious, because the way you were stiff-arming her, she was flailing, she was so out of her mind, if you had sucker punched her between the eyes you might have killed her. I’m proud of you for not doing it, BUT… but what happened, she deserved it.
BUBBA: Dixie has a nice work environment… don’t I, have a talent there, have a right to walk around and not get beat up?
HOGAN: You didn’t get beat up, you just got beat on!
BUBBA: And it was a triple Lindy, three of them connected boom-boom-boom. And then I was like, man… and then, on the third one, I got my left hand out, and I’m keeping her off, my hand’s on like her collarbone area, and at that point she was wailing around, and I was like, do I drop her, do I shoot a double or single leg, or do I get down on a knee and cover up…
HOGAN: Oh, she’d have kicked your brains in if you had got down on your knee.
BUBBA: I know… but, do I just … hopefully somebody gets her off me, so if I don’t defend myself I can’t get in trouble. I was worried about lawsuits, women’s activists and getting in trouble if I had fought back and dropped her, or tried, or even attempted to..
HOGAN: When you Hulked up… and you could see that your eyeballs were rolling back like a shark, and you were going to knock her out. .. but all the sudden you had presence of mind just to cover up and to do the rope-a-dope which was the way to go…
BUBBA: Which makes me look like a pussy…
HOGAN: No, it didn’t make you look like a pussy. If you had hurt that woman, it wouldn’t have been cool. Even though you could have gotten away with it, it still wouldn’t have been cool.
BUBBA: Brent, what’s your spin on it? By the way, I will tell you this, on the way home I called Brent, he’s my confidant, I’m like, Brent, I’m really tore up with this. Brent, you wern’t happy about it, were you?
BRENT: No, I’m still not happy about it. If I were you, and I’m shooting now, I’m being 100% serious, I’d never work another day in my life, and the only correspondence that they would get from me would be through Carlson and Wisner.
HOGAN: Oh, please!
BUBBA: Well, I’m just sayin’… to each their own.
BRENT: Hostile work environment. It’s all day…slam dunk!
BUBBA: Well, it is, it is all day, but… I dunno.
HOGAN: You did the right thing, it’s all good, man. It ain’t no big deal.
BUBBA: It’s no big deal to you, you’re not the one whose getting punked out when you go to work today.
HOGAN: I thought it was awesome. AWESOME KONG RULES!
BUBBA: Go ahead and put her over, Hogan. It’s called lack of leadership, my friend, she obviously has the mindset that you ain’t shit and you don’t care. She went after your number one guy, and what are you going to do about it, old timer? You’re all bark and no bite there, buddy!
HOGAN: I’m going to book you and Russo together, because he’s the one who set it up.
BUBBA: Or the fact that he set it up and you’re not doing anything.
HOGAN: I’m setting it up!
BUBBA: You’re not even sticking up for me on this.
HOGAN: Oh, Jesus Christ, it was a girl, a 350-pound girl, calm down!… I was just worried about your shoulder, I knew you had hurt your shoulder trying to hold that monster off.
BUBBA: Oh, my shoulder is amped…

Awesome Kong Gives Notice To TNA She’s Leaving
Posted on 01.21.10 by Jason Stone | TNA News |
TNA Knockout Awesome Kong, who got into a physical altercation with TNA backstage announcer Bubba the Love Sponge at Monday’s iMPACT! tapings, has given notice that she’s leaving the company.
The news was originally reported by f4wonline and was confirmed by Kong herself on Thursday afternoon via a live video stream on Qik.com.
Kong’s departure from the company appears to be effective immediately, and she said during the video cast that she informed TNA she won’t be attending the upcoming UK tour.
It should be noted that many TNA wrestlers and knockouts who have told management they are leaving have been persuaded into staying, but at this point Awesome Kong’s relationship with TNA appears to be off.
There was a ton of backstage heat on Bubba The Love Sponge, but also Kong, for physically attacking him.

The Rock: "I Want To Go Back To WWE & Do Something Special"
Posted on 01.21.10 by Jason Stone | WWE News |
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson spoke to Sports Illustrated this week to promote his new “Tooth Fairy” movie. The former WWE superstar stated once again that he wants to return to WWE to host WWE RAW and was actually supposed to host earlier this month. He said:
“I do plan on going back and hosting. I was actually gonna go back this month, but the day I was going to host, I had to go to Mexico for promotion of the movie, so we had to cancel that,” Johnson said.
Johnson says his return to WWE, rumored to take place this summer, will be more than just a typical guest hosting gig:
“I’ve remained close with Vince McMahon over the years, but here’s the key. It’s not just to go back and host. I don’t want to do that. I want to go back and host and do something special. I want to entertain the fans in ways they haven’t been entertained in years.”

Maryse's Age, Jericho's Diet?, Kung Fu Naki's WWE Status
Posted on 01.21.10 by Jason Stone | WWE News |
-- Kung Fu Naki worked his first match in several months at this past Tuesday's SmackDown! taping in Greenville, South Carolina, defeating prospective WWE Superstar Johnny Curtis in a dark match. Before Tuesday, Funaki had not worked a match inside a WWE ring since September 15, 2009 at a SmackDown live event in Canada. With that being said, he has not regularly toured with the company since last March as his last televised wrestling match took place on the March 9, 2009 episode of ECW in a Money in the Bank Qualifying Match battle royal.
-- WWE has released a D-Generation X Army jersey which can also be personalized. The company has taken wrestling fans' hefty frames in consideration as the jersey's price will reflect the chosen size for those above 3XL.
-- Today is Maryse's birthday, she turns 27 years old. (Maryse pictures)
-- As noted earlier, Chris Jericho will be on the cover of the March issue of Men's Fitness, which hits newsstands on January 25th. You can check out footage of Jericho's photo shoot at http://www.mensfitness.com/jericho Below are comments from Jericho's interview, as well as the cover of the magazine, featuring Jericho.
On What Influence Him To Be A Wrestler: "I loved the pomp and circumstance. It was like a play between good and bad guys."
On How Life In The Ring Prepared Him To Tackle A Career In Hollywood: "We still gotta take the bumps and bruises,' he says. ‘It's show-business boot camp. You learn how to behave in front of a live crowd. In this day and age, it's not how big your biceps are, it's about connecting with fans. It's like being an actor onstage.‘ "
On His Challenges To Eat Right During Hard Times: "You'd go into convenience stores and buy hard-boiled eggs, bottled water and some apples and that's your healthy dinner. If you're lucky."
On Working Out With Little To No Money: "When I didn't have enough money for gas to drive the 25 minutes to Calgary, I worked out in a barn. Pull-ups on the wooden struts and hay bale curls. Chugging raw eggs and devouring liver for extra protein. You do what you have to do to keep in shape."

Undertaker Retiring?, Batista-Royal Rumble Update, More
Posted on 01.21.10 by Jason Stone | WWE News |
- As previously reported, the Undertaker is said to be in rough physical shape and is working through significant pain in recent months. However, talk of him retiring at WrestleMania 26 are premature. His physical limitations are already affecting how often he wrestles and what he’s able to do in the ring, but there’s been talk of Undertaking retiring for nearly a decade, so many expect him to continue working through the pain for months and years to come.
– Although Batista is currently advertised to be one of the 30 participants in the Royal rumble match, Rey Mysterio did a radio interview in Mexico last week stating that his match with the Undertaker at the Rumble will be a three-way.
- Speaking of the Royal Rumble at the Phillips Arena in Atlanta, GA is already sold out.

Randy Orton Responds To Allegations He Assaulted A Fan
Posted on 01.21.10 by Jason Stone | WWE News |
Earlier this month a 15-year-old WWE fan accused Randy Orton of assault after Orton allegedly spit gum in his face and swore at him outside a restaurant in Boston, Mass. The fan claims he asked Orton for a picture when the WWE superstar got hostile and “assaulted” him.
Orton posted a message on his website explaining his side of the story:
“Here’s what happened: I walked out of Kowloon’s Friday night around 12:30-1 a.m. with Santino and a police officer escort. As I was being rudely hounded for pictures and autos (I had a 6:40 a.m. flight through Minni to Lincoln, then a drive to Omaha, a match, a drive back to Omaha, then a charter to Minni, and a driver to Rochester for the next show the next day, btw), I was confronted by an older women who said: ‘Hey Randy, you spit on my handicapped son a few years ago at a show, what do you have to say about that?’ My replay…`So Sue me.’
Then I proceeded to my car, with Santino and the cop and drove back to our hotel by the Boston airport. I know I have been a bit of a hothead in the past, but I DID NOT spit gum and call names to any child. The women is claiming I called her son a `retard’ 3 times, and spit gum in his face. Come on people, even at my worst temperament, I would never call a handicapped child something awful like that. I’ll actually sign anything for any child with any disability.
I heard just today from WWE attorneys that this women filed assault charges against me 4 days later? Hmmm, oh, and what about the dozens of cops at the restaurant that were there for crowd control since there were over 100 wrestling fans there? Not to mention the cop that escorted me to my freaking car. I’ll be happy when this is over. I guess if I’ve learned anything from this, it is not to ever challenge anyone to sue me.”

Monday night's edition of WWE RAW scored a 3.6 cable rating. The show did hours of 3.52 and 3.63. That's decent but there is also no more NFL Monday night football either. Monday was a holiday which caused the delay.
The backstage segments featuring Mike Tyson were shot multiple times throughout the day backstage at RAW last Monday afternoon. This is the reason why there were odd close-up camera shots of Tyson throughout many of those segments. Apparently a compilation of the multiple shots were pieced together instead of the usual one camera shot that WWE usually uses in their backstage skits.

Details On Ken Anderson's TNA Status & Contract
Posted on 01.20.10 by Jason Stone | TNA News |
-- F4WOnline.com reports that Ken "Mr. Kennedy" Anderson is working on a short term deal with TNA. Additionally, it was reported that Anderson is working on a show-to-show basis and has not yet agreed to a long term deal with the company.
After speaking to a source in TNA today who is very close to the situation, I can now confirm that Anderson is in fact working on a show-to-show deal with the company, however, TNA has him signed to an exclusive contract, which means he cannot simply jump ship to WWE or any other promotion for quite some time. I have been told that TNA has exclusivity on Anderson for approximately one year. So, a "show-to-show deal" basically means that Anderson is being paid per appearance, but that should not be taken to mean that Anderson's deal is "short term" or that he is free to jump ship to other promotions should he want to.
It should also be noted that Eric Bischoff has been telling people that Anderson is "exactly what TNA is looking for right now."
-- For those wondering, there's still no word on TNA's plans for Jeff Hardy and/or Shannon Moore.

Breaking: Brock Lesnar's Future In UFC Revealed
Posted on 01.20.10 by Jason Stone | UFC News |
UFC Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar will return to the UFC this summer in a unification title fight after a severe intestinal disorder healed itself without surgery, which he and Dana White described as an outright “miracle.” Lesnar spoke live on ESPN’s SportsCenter show on Wednesday morning and described the entire ordeal.
Lesnar told ESPN that during his training for a title defense against Shane Carwin scheduled for last November, he started feeling sick during training. After missing 3 weeks of his training camp, he visited multiple doctors, who couldn’t diagnose what his problem was. Lesnar told hsi trainer, “Icant do this fight” and he was diagnosed with mononucleosis. He was devastated having to back out of a fight. He decided to make the most of it and travel to Canada for a hunting trip. While there, he experienced severe stomach pain like he’s never felt in his life. He woke up one night with a 104 degree temperature and going into shock. He was hospitalized and diagnosed with a severe case of diverticulitis. He literally had a hole in his stomach.
Lesnar traveled to to the Med Center 1 medical facility in Bismark, South Dakota. Lesnar credited the doctors there for saving his life and career. While there, he lost 40 pounds in 30 days. At one point he went 11 days without food or water and was fed intravenously.
He traveled to the Mayo Clinic to get a second opinion and both facilities recommended he undergo a major surgery that would remove part of his colon, end his figthing career and severely alter his quality of life. Doctors told him they couldn’t perform the surgery until the swelling in his stomach went down and was told to return on January 5th for an update. At this point, he was expecting to undergo the surgery and he knew his fighting career was probably over.
When he re returned to doctors on January 5th, they were dumbfounded to find that Lesnar’s body had healed himself. Doctors told him the medical mystery was like having a winning lottery ticket and called the healing a “miracle.”
Dana White chimed in and said surgery would have changed Lesnar’s life. He held off on surgery and he healed himself. During his town time, Lesnar got into “holistic stuff” and changed his diet, which had a positive effect on his recovery. White too called it a miracle.
When asked if there was any health risks of him returning to mixed martial arts fighting, Lesnar said 3 or 4 specialist told him he has nothing to worry about and can resume a normal career. Lesnar said he’s had colonoscopies, CT scans and there are no signs of anything wrong with him. He said that time in the hospital was especially hard for him because he felt helpless and like he had no control over the situation. He thanked his wife, Rena “Sable” Mero, his family, Dana White, the UFC and his sponsors for their constant support. dana, sponsors
When asked when he’ll fight again, Dana White said “this summer.” During Lesnar’s downtime, UFC booked an interim title fight between undefeated heavyweight Shane Carwin and former champion Frank Mir for UFC’s March pay-per-view. The winner of that fight will face Lesnar in a title vs. title unification fight this summer in what is sure to be a blockbuster event.

The Latest On Awesome Kong-Bubba Backstage Fight
Posted on 01.20.10 by Jason Stone | TNA News |
The word going around backstage in TNA is that the incident with Awesome Kong beating up Bubba the Love Sponge was "far worse" than Bubba described it yesterday. Both were sent home after the incident. It's time to get rid of Bubba but he brings them crazy publicity with his two radio shows.
Prior to the fight, there was heat on Bubba and he was left out of production meetings over the weekend due to saying "F--- Haiti" on Twitter following the disaster in the country. As previously reported, it was that comment that started the fight between the two.
In addition to Bubba, there is also now heat on Kong for making the situation into a physical one and attacking Bubba.

TNA Knockout & Bubba The Love Sponge Fight Backstage
Posted on 01.19.10 by Jason Stone | TNA News |
With rumors that there was major heat on Bubba The Love Sponge backstage in TNA for saying “F— Haiti” on Twitter, there is now even more to this story.
Hulk Hogan appeared on Bubba’s radio show on Tuesday morning and said TNA Knockout Awesome Kong attacked Bubba backstage and puched him in the face at Monday’siMPACT! taping in Orlando.
Kong has been taking part in fundraising efforts to raise money for the victims of the earthquake Haiti which has claimed upwards of 200,000 lives.
Bubba described the incident:
“She was wearing wrestling gear, and she came in on me and sucker punched me right on my left cheek, and I was like, what’s going on… then she came out me again, hit me again in the mouth, and she goes, ‘This if for Haiti! This is for Haiti!’ and I’m like ‘What is going on?’ Finally I put my left hand out and push her away from me, and she comes at me again and I just cover up, because I cannot fight back on a woman. Not only will I be fired from TNA, which I probably am, but my radio career is gone if I take a woman out!”
Bubba and Kong were both sent home.
A source in TNA says that Bubba has major heat in the locker room and might not be around for too long despite being a Hogan ally.

* Dark Match Skip Sheffield def. Chavo Guerrero with a backpack stunner.
* Superstars Match Kelly Kelly def. Jillian with the K2
After the show ended Sheamus came out and stated that'd if any of the guys there won the Rumble they'd be better off challenging Undertaker and then challenged Cena to a match for the WWE Title.
Cena won by disqualification after Sheamus bumped the ref before Cena put him in the STF and the bell rang. After that Cena got the mic with Sheamus holding up the title poised to attack Cena with it. Cena said he had something to say to Sheamus and told Sheamus to lay down the title but Sheamus charged Cena and whiffed as Cena popped him with the mic over the head. Cena then said he knew Sheamus was the palest member of the roster but he just vaulted past the Miz as the stupidest because he was just gonna ask Sheamus to sing "Rocky Top" with him. After Cena sang "Rocky Top" with the crowd Sheamus got up and got an Attitude Adjustment.

Vince Takes Control Of WWE Films, Major Changes
Posted on 01.19.10 by Jason Stone | WWE News |
According to Variety, Vince McMahon is personally taking control of WWE films. WWE has cut ties with Lionsgate and 20th Century Fox, and have signed new deals with Samuel Goldwyn Films to oversee theatrical releases, while Vivendi Entertainment will handle films across various home video formats in North America.
The company plans to produce a total of 9 films through 2012, while they also are hoping to retain the rights to all the films. This is because WWE still has designs on their own TV channel, and the films would be a part of the programming.
The article mentions that WWE Films will now focus on family films and comedies, instead of films like The Marine 3.
