Talk Of A Potential Champion vs. Champion Match At WrestleMania XXX

Posted by Brad Davis November 4, 2013 16 Comments

With planning underway for the WrestleMania XXX card, one match that’s been talked about in recent weeks is a WWE Champion vs. World Heavyweight champion match. Whether or not this would be a unification match or simply a special attraction, it’s being discussed.

Since John Cena returned at Hell in a Cell, there has been a strong push to bring prestige back to the World Heavyweight championship. While John Cena and Randy Orton had a never-ending feud several years ago, the two have never squared off at WrestleMania in a singles match (they wrestled Triple H in a triple threat match at WrestleMania 24). With Randy Orton being billed as the new “Face of WWE” by Triple H and the Authority, a match against John Cena would have a built-in storyline.

Aside from John Cena, CM Punk is another top baby face that is being considered for a shot at the WWE Championship next April.

How can the WWE title picture be discussed without mentioning Daniel Bryan who deserves it more than anyone ? He has the entire universe behind him and the company needs a NEW face, not the same guys all the time.

I agree..every arena they go, you hear the “YES!” chants….yet, idk why they are so inlove with Orton, and Cena.

Maybe because Cena and Orton are their biggest stars and are still in their prime unlike Hogan or Ric Flair.

That’s debateable seeing that Punk and Bryan get bigger reactions than the two you mentioned.

I don’t mind if they unify the titles, but don’t want to see Randy Orton vs. John Cena for the the main event at WMXXX. It’ll be the same old story, and same old words they will throw at each others.

I think the time has come to unify the titles and I feel that the main event should be CM Punk vs. John Cena. That match can have SOOO MUCH drama and anticipation built into it. It would be, simply put, better television. Those two are the best in that company right now, as far as star power, and they have had an amazing rivalry over the years. Their match at Money In The Bank in 2011 will go down as a classic and I personally would love to see them match that great performance on the Grandest Stage of them ALL. I think a controversial finish would be a great icing on the cake for this match. Cena, FOR YEARS, has been the face of WWE and has maintained the same babyface persona. ITS TIME FOR A CHANGE IN WRESTLING! I think that having Cena turn heel would REALLY revamp WWE and shake that entire company to its core. John Cena is a guy that people want to hate and its time to give the people what they want. And Cena would do great against a popular force like CM Punk. Cena has ALWAYS been a company man and the fans know it. With Hulk Hogan coming back they can do so much to reshape WWE with it ALL beginning at WrestleMania 30. My card for WrestleMania 30:
World Heavyweight Champion John Cena vs. WWE Champion CM Punk in a title unification match with the controversial finish of Triple H helping Cena defeat Punk and becoming the undisputed champion. Cena turns heel and joins forces with Triple H, Stephanie, and Orton (Two man power trip revisited) this will allow Punk to build his popularity and become more of the rebel that he SHOULD be. It will also make a path leading up to a Cena-Orton show down in the future with Cena remaining the villian and Orton the new babyface. ( I personally feel that Orton is a better face than heel)
Hogan vs. Orton will be a pretty good match for WrestleMania 30 with the main storyline being that Hogan was Vince McMahons face of the company and Orton is Triple H and Stephanies face.
Then of course there is Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker. The well speculated match for next years big show. I personally like this match up a lot. I think Paul Heyman always had a secret desire of having one of his clients end the streak. Hopefully WWE does the smart thing and allows the streak to continue. (its the greatest storyling in WRESTLING HISTORY)

You lost all credibility the moment you said Orton makes a better face than a heel which is simply not true.

Orton / Cena is the right call for a champion / champion match. The top face against the top heel. Because I don’t see them trying to turn Bryan face and they WON’T turn Cena heel, so Bryan’s out. And that works out anyways.
Bryan would probably be better of wrestling Punk in a solid workrate match. It would make a lot of people happy and probably be a good match in it’s own. They’re both talented guys but neither have that extra “umph” to headline WrestleMania.

If cena is a heel then it’s all gravy

    • Thumbs down if you agree

      Main Event Matches Should be:

CM Punk vs Stone Cold Steve Austin
      Brock Lesnar vs Undertaker
John Cena and Big Show vs Triple H & Randy Orton (Cena turns Heel after the match)

Cena turning heel….Ha! you’re funny…that’s never gonna happen

        • khaledbebo9

they did it before with the fan favorite H.Hogan, and it pretty much worked back then !!!

I love WWE but wwe champ vs WHC is weird cause wwe championships should be all on the line mostly on the grandest stage of them all

    • ???

Cm Punk deserves to main event a wm damn cena has main event to many and im ok with orton vs punk cause that would be a good match but i would like to see a unified championship for wwe seeing how smackdown sucks it might help

I think with HHH and Steph taking over backstage this would be a perfect way to restart things within the company. As much as I love the big gold belt it’s time to say goodbye to it and let it rest within the history books and hall of fame glass cases.

If there is going to be a Champion vs. Champion match at WrestleMania XXX, for attraction only, Cena vs. Orton could do the match.. But if WWE wanted to give you a Title Unification match at Mania with their roster right now the only 2 on the roster that could put the quality into the match that they woud need for something of that magnitude would be CM Punk (World Heavyweight Champion) vs. Daniel Bryan (WWE Champion). Give them 60 minutes with a finish and tell them to fill in the gaps.. I would put $100 on it that they would have a match better then any writer could come up with.
