#1. Daniel Bryan
And we conclude our list with someone who had arguably the best year of their career, despite having his legs cut out from under him at almost every turn. For several months, during the absence of John Cena due to injury, Bryan received an opportunity to become “the new face of WWE.” He passed the test with flying colors, and yet WWE still wouldn’t run with him on top. After attempting to phase him out of the title picture and go a different direction with him in the second or third from-the-top spot, the WWE fans, especially those in Seattle, made it pretty clear that they haven’t changed their minds. They want Daniel Bryan at the head of the pack. How long can WWE avoid the inevitable? Well, if history proves anything, they can avoid it forever. Something tells me that in this particular instance, they will succumb to their fans wishes. Something tells me WWE held off on giving Bryan his big “moment” in winning the WWE Championship (for real, not letting him win it and then immediately take it right back in an example of “what’s next?” going awfully wrong) because they are saving it for WrestleMania XXX. I hope my instincts are right on this one, but knowing WWE as well as I do, that could be a case of wishful thinking on my part. What isn’t wishful thinking is the thought that 2014 will be another big year for the bearded performer. Daniel Bryan is somebody to look out for in 2014.
