Undertaker Hospitalized With Concussion & Neck Injury

Posted by Matt Boone April 7, 2014 36 Comments

As previously reported, there are reports coming out of New Orleans on Sunday night that claim The Undertaker suffered a concussion during his match with Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XXX. While we cannot confirm that he suffered a legitimate concussion, we can confirm that he was taken to the hospital in an ambulance immediately after the show.

The reason for his trip to the hospital, where we were informed he will remain overnight, was to run tests to determine whether or not he suffered a concussion, as well as concerns that he suffered an apparent neck injury of some kind.

Undertaker’s injuries came during a spot early into the match where he took a bad fall off of a single-leg from Lesnar.

As far as the finish to the match is concerned, Undertaker’s potential injuries played no part in changing the originally designed outcome. The match went off as planned, with Lesnar scheduled to go over.

We noted in our previous report that very few people behind-the-scenes in WWE were aware of the plan for Undertaker to lose, that might not be the case, as he went from a 40-to-1 favorite in betting websites to an actual underdog by the time the match hit the ring.

I swear if this is why Undertaker F#?&ING LOST!, Im going to be so pissed. and BULLS@&^ I dont believe it was planned for Taker to lose at all especially in such a stupid way!

      • Problem?

        This didn’t affect the match

Have just started watching wrestling for the first time.
All winners and losers are decided before the bell even rings.

    • bluesteel

That was awesome! Haven’t been surprised by WWE like that in years. Don’t know why so many people are crying. Taker chose Lesnar to end it. This also sets up a great match at next years ‘mania with Sting as it won’t be as predictable now

      • Leonard Jackson

You are exactly right!! I knew WWE WANTED LESNAR TO COME INTO WRESTLEMANIA AS AN UNDERDOG INTO THINKING PEOPLE THOUGHT HE HAD NO CHANCE AGAINST THE UNDERTAKER AND WWE THREW A SWERVE AT THE FANS. I WAS HAPPY WHEN LESNAR WON. THE LOOK ON PEOPLES FACES WAS HILARIOUS. THEY DIDNT KNOW LESNAR WAS GOING TO WIN. I THINK UNDERTAKER IS GOING TO TRY AND RETIRE TONIGHT AND THEN THE LIGHTS GO OUT AND STING IS IN THE RING AND CHALLENGES THE DEADMAN FOR NEXT YEAR. THE CROWD GOES NUTS FOR STING!!!!

    • Undertaker316

this is the kind of s.h.i.t why i didnt want brock lesnar to wrestle undertaker because i knew undertaker would get injured during the match they should of put him against someone from the shield like dean ambrose or all of the shield in a handicap tag team match and have sting debut and help undertaker and if the streak ending wasnt a botch why the f.u.c.k. brock lesnar of all people if they were going to end it cm punk should of ended it last year f.u.c.k.ing bull s.h.i.t

      • david

Lesnar injures everyone because he can’t wrestle! He hurt Goldberg and nearly killed Kurt Angle,AND himself!

        • Hector Naranjo

When you are as strong as Lesnar, you dont know your own strength. Dude is a beast, abd can hurt anyone without even trying.

          • Jenny R.

            No kidding o_o

            • Hector Naranjo

              No its a true story

      • Guest

When where your complaints when Undertaker had to be stretchered out after WrestleMania 27. Guy is f’ing 49 of course he’s going to get injured like hell.
Yeah and let Punk end the streak and still take his ball and go home.

    • Problem?

Brock Lesbian Wins via Undertaker being 21 – 1

    • anthony j

People need to chill out, yeah the streak is over and yes Lesnar ended it, so what life goes on. Lesnar and Taker outside the wrestling world are good friends, so if Taker really did say hey I’ll lose to Brock at Mania then respect his decision. If you go back and look at the Undertaker, he looked like he really didnt want to be there meaning it is way past his time. The guy gave so many years to the business, keeping that streak going was pointless because every time after the match he had to go have surgery or he got injured because his body couldn’t hold up like it use to. Face facts, this was probably the last Undertaker match we will ever see. I still wouldn’t mind seeing Taker vs Sting but I wouldn’t be upset if it didnt happen.

too bad for Taker’ however that match was so fixed from the beginning. We will all be sad to see the streak end. Looked like the undertaker was taking some phoney blows from lesner who can hit harder than anyone. Taker got old, may have health issues unaware to us,& this match had Lesner in it to win & looked it by every move.
*very disappointed in their ACT !
*sad about the streak–thought it might go to 25!
*by the looks of Undertaker, he couldn’t make it to another match (sorry but true).
*why did they choose lesner to end the streak??????????? so many better there,
to be imortalized with that win in their record !
*such a coincidence that the streak ends simultaniously with Paul Bearer going in
      the HOF
*all newer wwe fans will think their match was so great, when actually nowhere
near the quality of greatness I’d been waiting for………
……………. another disappointment from the wwe

If the streak was to end it should have been to shawn Michaels. Not a part time wrestler. Wwe is about to lose a lot of viewer’s now. They broke kids hearts amd childhoods

        • Blake Parker

You do realize the undertakers been part time for almost 8 years

          • Guest

Yeah they’re gonna lose viewers because a guy who hasn’t worked a full schedule in those years lost because he decided to lose a match involving a streak to a guy who he happens to be good friends with.

      • Guest

        Wrestling matches being fixed?
        Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo~

      • Guest

Also this wasn’t the companies decision it was Taker’s.

    • Chris_Is_Awesome

da fuck is wrong with creative, instead of a great farewell, move the streak to the midcard and end it? haven’t watched the last 3 weeks of the build up and won’t watch till ec unless there are major changes

      • Callihan Mark

Taker gets to pick when it ends and who he faces, don’t be pissed at WWE for something Mark wanted.

        • Chris_Is_Awesome

doesn’t really matter, at the end it’s the companies decision. and i beg anyone to tell me what ups this ending has…

          • Callihan Mark

He wanted this. Bottom line quit being selfish and accept that he did it for him.

            • Chris_Is_Awesome

am i selfish for pointing out that this was meaningless?

            • Callihan Mark

No, I claimed you were selfish because you’re bitching about something that Mark did for himself.

            • Chris_Is_Awesome

dude you should probably start reading the comments you reply to…

            • Guest

And at the same time you should quit complaining about a company man doing what he wants to do for the company he’s worked his ass off for.

            • Chris_Is_Awesome

yeah kudos, great idea, would have meant something if it happened years ago but still i’m thankful to have withnessed it

    • ThankyouTaker

I’m upset that the streak is over, but I respect the Undertaker and his decision to let Brock Lesnar end it even though I’m not a fan of Brock’s. However, the only issue I have is that the match should have gone on longer. I’m not sure if Taker’s injury caused it to go on as short as it did, but really just 3 F-5’s? I mean he kicked out of plenty of vicious chair shots, Triple H’s pedigree 3 times and a tombstone pile driver in their no holds barred match at mania showing us his incredible resiliency yet we sit here and are supposed to believe all it took was 3 F-5’s? They could have at least made it a little more believable and had him go through a table or something.

Why did they let a part timer like lesnar beat the streak ? It was supposed to be sting next year. Lesnar should get fired.

      • UndertakerRIP

Why would it be Sting. Undertaker don’t have any dealings with Sting. They are strangers. Established wrestlers usually picks a close friend for their final match. For example, Austin picked Rock, Flair picked HBK, HBK picked Undertaker, Undertaking picking Lesnar.

      • Bam Bam

You realize if Sting came back he would just be a part timer as a matter of fact I read where they were only gonna use Sting once then he was gonna be done I think Sting only wanted to be used once in WWE then be done. Granted I wish they would of used a younger guy to help put them over rather than a part timer.

      • Guest

It was supposed to be Sting 4 years ago at this point no one cares.

    • deadmaninc

Well if someone had to do it, I’m glad it was Lesnar

    • B

Taker chose Lesnar, not WWE. Taker was given full control over his character for years. He doesn’t know the new guys for the most part, he have been in active for years now. For the limited appearances he have made in recent years, he was still injured many times, that kind of shows you how fragile his body has gotten. I am sure a lot of wrestling fans wish the streak would go on indefinitely. But if you truly appreciate Undertaker, and the man behind the character, you would let him retire his battered body in peace and in 1 piece, and respect him for choosing a friend to do it rather than someone he doesn’t know anything about. Undertaker’s career is legendary even thou the streak is dead.
