Update on WWE Bringing Back Former Stars for The Rumble

Posted by Matt Boone January 20, 2013 9 Comments

- We’ve noted how WWE officials are interested in bringing back some familiar midcard names to the roster. Part of the reason for this is to help with live event attendance, mainly on the SmackDown side.

– It was recently reported that Tommy Dreamer’s name was brought up in a WWE creative meeting about surprise Royal Rumble entrants. MVP and Shelton Benjamin were also discussed for the Rumble. Their names have came up a lot within the company lately. They are part of the list of talents WWE would like to bring back to help with the roster depth and attendance. The problem with MVP returning is that he’s under contract to New Japan.

Another name rumored within WWE recently was Low Ki, formerly known as Kaval on NXT. Kaval is considered a long shot and his return is probably just a rumor.

One team we can expect to see in the 30-man Rumble match is The New Age Outlaws – “Road Dogg” BG James and Billy Gunn.

Seriously, Road Dogg is cool, but I see him too much for it to be anything special now.
MVP is an asshole, and not the sort of asshole that you love to hate. Just an asshole.
Shelton is a great wrestler, and ok on the Mic. It would be good to see him back for the Rumble.
I hope they don’t drag Diesel back, or Xpac.

Please keep Flair outta the ring, too. Preferably off of TV altogether.

Real surprise entrants that would have me smiling:
Sting, Angle (both with TNA, not going to happen…) Iron Sheik, Shawn Michaels (ok, they drag him back too often, but he is awesome), VKM, Stone Cold (although I know that isn’t going to happen, he would want a main event at mania), Eddie G (deceased, not going to happen),

So you want a dead guy, a non-wrestler, 2 retired guys 2 guys who work for the competition and a 70 year old man to be the surprise entrants?

You sir, are a fucking moron.

I said they would be a surprise, and I already declared the others as non-starters.

You gotta admit Kurt Angle, Sting, HBK & Stone Cold could make the Royal Rumble more interesting and if a guy like Randy Orton eliminated it adds to that person’s career.

Ric Flair can be in the ring as long as it’s not a match, fighting is ok, talking is ok.

    • sucka

and gilberg for sure. and then maybe have ryback elimate gilberg after gilberg takes a few out in the ring himself.

I hope Kaval doesn’t come back. Vince didn’t realize the talent he had and blew it!

    • Beer Money Jobber

They should bring back some great jobbers of the past like Frankie Williams, Mike Simani, the Mulkey brothers, Jimmy Jackson, Iron Mike Sharpe or Ken Jugan
