There was concern at this week’s TV tapings that the tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut may affect the product in some way because of an anti-violence media backlash, particularly when it comes to shows that draw kids.

Vince McMahon told people that he expects to be targeted for the effect wrestling has on children, and that they will fight back with charity work and pushing the idea that WWE is family entertainment.

other than the dvds, i’m finished with the wwe. every now and then i will turn it on to raw just to give it a chance and to see if it has improved. It hasn’t. It has gone from tolerable to terrible over the past couple of years. That combined with the pg era (not specifically because it is pg, but because the storytelling and wrestling that accompany it is so horrid) not going away, I must bid a sad farewell to the wwe’s on-air product. still love those dvds though.
