The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that WWE is looking to take advantage of the NBA season being all but cancelled at this point due to the lockout between the players association and team owners. The company wants to get a big name NBA star — or two — to take part in WrestleMania 28 in some fashion.
The two names being talked about the most within WWE are Lebron James and Shaquille O’Neal, both who have done work with WWE in the past. Sources say WWE will definitely be sending feelers out to those two, if they haven’t already.
The NBA lockout is also benefiting WWE in other ways, as big city arenas want to host more WWE events to make up for the lack of NBA games. Madison Square Garden in particular is pushing WWE for more live events, which is fine with Vince McMahon as he is a huge fan of that arena.
