The current plan is for RAW & SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch to pull double duty at next month’s WWE Money in the Bank pay-per-view.
As noted, Lacey Evans vs. Lynch for the RAW Women’s Title was confirmed for Money In the Bank on last night’s RAW. Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that the plan as of Monday was for Lynch to defend both titles. This would take place in two different matches at the pay-per-view.
There’s no word yet on who Lynch’s second opponent will be, for the SmackDown Women’s Title, but it could be Charlotte Flair. A face-off segment between Flair and Lynch is scheduled to take place on tonight’s SmackDown episode.
Charlotte Flair of course lost her Smackdown Women’s Championship to Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 35. The ‘Queen’ of WWE was not involved in the finish when Lynch rolled up Ronda Rousey for a controversial three count.
WWE are likely to want a strong Champion on their Smackdown Live brand to be confirmed well before the move to the FOX network. Whilst Becky Lynch has a dedicated following she is likely to drop one of the RAW/Smackdown Championships soon. This way Becky can be locked into one brand. With Lynch defending against a less tenured Superstar such as Lacey Evans there’s a good chance that Charlotte Flair takes the win at Money In The Bank, should the match happen.
