Dustin and Cody Rhodes had a hellacious bout at this past weekend’s Double or Nothing PPV. The first official PPV event for AEW was arguably stolen by the two Rhodes brothers. During the match Dustin bled severely and appeared to be leaving his boots in the ring at the end of the match. Cody stopped Dustin from doing so, saying that he needed his older brother for tag team match against the Young Bucks at Fight For The Fallen.
“I was [going to retire], and he snuck in behind me,” Dustin stated. “I was like, ‘Geez, let me get my boots off before you do anything. My God, I want to leave this boot in the ring and say goodbye, proper.’ I was tired, and he came in and I didn’t know what to expect, or what he was going to do.”
After the event Dustin took part in a press conference backstage. Rhodes stated that “He [Cody] killed the Attitude Era, but I’m still standing here today.”
