It appears as though WWE has cancelled the upcoming Backlash WWE Network event. The show was scheduled to take place on June 16th in San Diego, CA. This was first reported by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio.

WWE is currently planning an event in Saudi Arabia on June 7th, also according to The Observer. The company apparently believe that running two ‘major’ shows so close together would be detrimental. WWE also had house shows planned for California that weekend which will likely also be cancelled.

WWE are reportedly looking to have The Undertaker appear at the upcoming Saudi Arabia event. ‘Taker is currently scheduled to be taking on Elias, the man who he interrupted during the RAW After Mania event earlier this month.

This is a huge opportunity for the musical Superstar to further cement his status in the company. Vince McMahon is reportedly very happy with Elia’s progress thus far in the company and is looking to push him even further. This match against The Deadman will hopefully help to solidify his position in the company as an upper midcard talent.¬†We’ll have more on this story as and when it develops.
